Only the Vt series has that for Panasonics. The Lg 50pa5500 did a better job than my st50 and that was a 60hz too so its just not about the refresh rate. It still looks good on the panny and the pq is much better than the LG.

For proper 24p playback, it is about the refresh rate. At 48hz, the refresh is easily seen in bright scenes as the blinking. 60hz smooths it out, but again, that gives judder with the 3:2 pulldown. Most people don't see or care about it, but 60hz playback is not the same. Why does the refresh rate matter? Because 24 does not divide evenly into 60. I'm surprised the the VT series is the only panny to offer a 24p mode above 48hz. My TV is a Hitachi P50S602 which has 96hz playback (2:2 pulldown + subframes), but my parents own the P60U50 & the P50X3.

I know that but some TVs do 3:2 pull down better and the LG did a better job at 60hz. So like i said its not just about refresh rate. The Lg actually did 3:3 pull down looking at the specs at 60hz. And even at 96hz cnet said the Vt had too much flicker.

Repiled before i saw your edit. Your right the LG did it at 72hz, was not listed on their website. Apparently even the 720p models do it. Too bad the picture was just OK, black levels were like an led and bad dithering that was distracting unless you put brightness at too low a level. Too bad Panasonic can't do something like that as it seems to me to be the best of both worlds, proper cadence without the flicker.

I think he means the motion smoother, but many plasmas come with that now as well. But that's a really a love it or hate it thing. I personally hate it, but to say you like that and therefore to chose led is just uninformed by him as plasmas do it too.

I don't know if they have the picture calibrated correctly at my Costco, but the whites were very gray on the display set I saw. (on the LG)

Wanted to get this but free shipping/no-tax disappeared for my location (Boulder, CO) soon after the OP. Just checked again and it was back. Ordered for $799 + white glove delivery of 59.01 = $858.01. Originally looking for 42-50, but I have the wall space, so why not. :-)

Around Thanksgiving I was looking around to replace the 42" Samsung plasma I got 4.5 years ago and came across a LG 47" 3D LED and thought that should be good for couple of years. But when it came in both my wife and I was surprised as we didn't notice much of an increase in screen size. I saw this 60" around Thanksgiving at amazon for $798 and didn't think I would need this much of an increase but just decided to go big once and for all so I don't have to think about it again.

In early 2007 Buy.com had the Samsung 42" for $800 that was a big sale then and now I can get a 60" for the same price it's amazing. The LG is going up to our bedroom and can't wait to set up the new tv when it comes in. Hopefully we will enjoy this tv as much as we did with the Samsung in the past 4.5 plus years and in another 5 years the 80" will come down to this price level.

Quick question for those that purchased from Fry's: how did they ship this tv? I received an email that the order was shipped but tracking number appears to be freight and not the standard fedex or ups. I tried calling their call center but it's closed.

I just need to know if they will call to schedule a delivery time or they will just drop by?

You can put tracking number on page. They will also call a day or so before delivery with a four hour window to make sure someone will be available when delivered.
