On the subject of Office Max, am I correct that if you buy something using your Office Max Rewards and return it, they give you a store credit even if it's after the time period when your Rewards were supposed to expire?

Last time I needed some batteries for the 550VA (same model here) and I checked around, replacement batteries were mostly $30-ish delivered. I never found any batteries that cheap on Amazon. I tried one from Atbatt or some place like that, and I think it came with a 1 year warranty and died about a week after the 1 year. I'm not paying that much again for just 1 year of battery time. $17 might be OK if someone can provide a link, but AFAIK replacement batteries start at $30.

550 VA is = ~ 330 watts or so.
75 amp at 12 volts is 900 watts
So you'll get about ~2:45 minutes run time.

The advice against power strips is given so that you don't have the propensity to overload the circuit as well as surge circuit on the upstream power strip(s).
As long as you don't do that, I don't see why you can't daisy chain power strips.

I had an older model similar to this. It lasted about 3 months until the battery was shot. I got a replacement and it lasted about 5 months. I've had quite a few devices that use various standard 12V sealed batteries that did not last long at all. The problem is a lot of these cheaper UPS, portable spot lights, car jump boxes etc use extremely crappy basic charging and battery maintaining circuits and it greatly shortens the life of the battery. I have a 15 year old APC 500 UPS that I replace the battery on about once every 5 years for $20. I get the same exact batteries for it that I've used in other devices that consistently last only a few months. Just for reference, I've had some of the Tripp-Lite Omni model UPSs that Costco used to sell and the batteries lasted about 3 years in each of them.

Short story, you may not be getting crappy replacement batteries, chances are you have a crappy device that is killing them.
