Personally, I'd go with Nexus just b/c of customization options... and it'd easily integrate with the rest of my gadgets. |

Just an update. I will be returning my device because of the umpteen problems I've been having with it.
A few to list - 1) This is by far the deal breaker. Freezes/hangs and crashes every day, multiple times. So disappointed by this. This happens all the time while switching apps, opening browser and doing random stuff. 2) This is also a big deal. Intermittent problems with wifi connection and it drops randomly. My 10 or so other devices at home doesn't have this problem at all and its definitely something to do with Nexus 10. Sometimes it also shows its connected to a proxy server and refuses to connect to the internet. This is solved by restarting the device. But nonetheless, very annoying. 3) Choppy playback using YouTube app (this one is weird because it doesn't happen when I use a browser to access YouTube or while playing HD movies I downloaded from the Play store). It comes with a free (Ice Age) HD movie and it plays fine with the player. 4) Light bleed from top left corner and its very visible during dark scenes or black background. 5) Poor battery life and very slow to charge. It doesn't charge or at least it shows the battery stays the same while using the tablet when plugged into a wall outlet. While not it use it takes 6-7 hours to charge from 30% or so to full. 6) Non-existent customer support. I really wanted to like this tablet and its so full of promise. If everything worked properly this is probably the best tablet and OS in the world. But unfortunately, it isn't or at least until Google stands behind their product and tries to make it right. |

Um..I have no problems with stock 4.2.1 on my Nexus 4 and Nexus 7. I get no crash, lags, or freezes like the stated issues with his Nexus 10. Sounds like he did indeed get a crappy model and I would exchange it and try again. Numerous reviews and videos around the web will tell you that his issues are not common and more specific to his device. Also non-existent support? WTF? Google Play is available with live people with support 24/7. To talk to a member of the Google Play team, call 855-836-3987. Our support team is available 24/7. I usually get to a live person (and not someone in India) in less than a minute anytime of day, after going through the phone menu. |

The Nexus 7 is an amazing device. It's small, and updates automatically. No rooting needed. There's some tips/tricks videos on youtube that can get you up to speed on the N7 in a day. IMO, the N7 is the device to buy this season. It's half the price of the iPad 3 and N10, is easier to hold, and the apps from the Tegra Zone link on Google Play are amazing. Zen Pinball HD (one of the free apps in Tegra Zone) is miles apart from the apps I'm used to playing on my rooted Nook Color - a device I haven't put down all year. I finally got hold of a Google rep who acknoledged all these issues and told me to call Samsung for a replacement tablet. When I called Samsung rep they asked me to return the device to the seller or try resetting it to factory settings. They never mentioned a replacement and this is not very comforting. I will return this to Wal-Mart, but I am not going get another one in exchange as they are out of stock online and in almost all stores around where I live. |

Word from official Samsung support -
Under any circumstances, they won't replace your tablet. This is Samsung policy and the customer rep I talked to clearly mentioned this. I will have to send it in for a repair and wait until they fix it. No replacements, period. This doesn't inspire a lot of confidence!! I guess my tablet is going back to Wal-Mart. |
