Wow that's sick. Beats shoponkyo's refurb price by $18 including the 30% discount there right now. Have an upvote.
All those subwoofer problems in the reviews look pretty discouraging. Is is possible the refurb kit could be more reliable than new? Ha. Buying on Amazon means no fighting Onkyos half crippled boggy site though. Last edited by ShovelWare; 12-24-2012 at 10:17 AM.. |

Agreed that the reviews are far to frightening to even entertain buying this. I am all about getting some nice bang for my buck, but not when there is no "boom" for my buck.

Nice find, but sketchy reviews. I'd assume with an update it'd fix most of the subwoofer standby problems..

I got the HT-S5400 from Onkyo as a refurb earlier this year, not one single issue. Sound is great, everything came looking brand new. Seems the issues with the sub in the 5500 are unique to that system so far.
Can't say anything bad about Onkyo from experience though. Eveything I've ever owned from them has been rock-solid. |

Sorry gotta agree onkyo is crap. Had a 7.1 system from them turn to crap in 1 month. I am one of those bad reviews on amazon.
