27" 1440p IPS LED Monitor w/warranty - $351 + sh (cheaper than Catleap from eBay)

Well I did start the thread and have been following these monitors for quite a while. Wasn't too keen on the risk of eBay/Korea so I waited...Monoprice answered my calls. The 1yr warranty + an extra year through AmEx makes me feel much better.

Been following the Monoprice monitor for quite some time now. It was due out Dec 4th but got delayed to the 19th, then to jan 20th, then settled on Jan 10th. The fact that they got a few in and opened it up in Dec was wonderful because they had the 20% off deal just for December. It ended up being $342 including tax and shipping. Would have been $318 without tax. A good price for today, but still expensive as we discussed. Judging from the way all this is going, I would say your 2-3yr estimate is pretty accurate. By then I would wish Samsung to have an AMOLED (non-pentile) 1440p for around $300. Then again over the past 4 years Apple's displays have gone from $1200 to $1000. They'll probably be at $800 in 3 years so the AMOLED's will probably be the same.


Oh yeah, Monoprice is coming out with more monitors too. They're gonna have a version with tons of inputs (even RCA, not S-video though), another that's 27" 120hz, and another that's 30" all due out in time. ETA for these versions is unknown but the tech team at Monoprice are currently playing with all the 27" variations in their office.

just received this monitor. so no height adjustment. but does this thing even tilt? mine, a mounted is leaning back 25 degrees or so. is there any way to tilt it straight? it also feels and looks super cheap. the image is very bright (too bright) and no dead pixels. would appreciate any feedback.

I get mine tomorrow. Will let you know. A friend of mine also got his (he's in a different city) and he had the same impression as you. "Plasticy but gloriously beautiful picture"

For brightness, I think you gotta hold down the adjustment button for it to work.

thanks I figured out the brighness. but the tilt. its tilting back, and I may be really stupid, but for the life of me, I cant figure out how to change the tilt. ask your friend if the tilt is adjustable, or I will wait to hear from you. I emailed monoprice also.

the turn on button is the 3rd one from the left. (diagram is all screwy). I also had to use the supplied dvi cable. for whatever reason my old dvi cable was not cutting it.

You need a DUAL LINK DVI not just a regular one. It needs those extra pins to get 1440p. I noticed the buttons are scrwey and seems like there is even two extra buttons to the left of the power button. My red standby light is on and computer recognizes it on all three DVI DL ports and even shoots 1440p at it but the monitor doesn't do anything. Standby light doesn't even change. Monoprice says it's a bad backlight but that doesn't make sense as I would be able to see SOMETHING albeit very very very dark. But the standby light doesn't budge...
