I have an old HP that has a valid key for Media Center XP. I want to use parts of that computer (HDD, RAM, and DVD-RW) along with other parts I have lying around (GPU, CPU, mobo) to build a better computer in order to sell it on Craigslist. Is there a place I can get an install disc for Media Center XP that doesn't have hacks or customizations or anything? I want it exactly as Windows intended it so that the person I sell it to doesn't run into any dumb problems from being a weird install
Tbh if you have a legit key just download a torrent of a clean version of the OS you need...
That's the hard part. Every torrent I find seems to be customized or hacked in some way.
edit: I found a MCE disc and burned it to a disc. It works fine in the computer that I used to download and burn it however when I put it into my computer that I want to install this on, it doesn't read the disc at all. I know that drive works because I used that drive to install what I thought was a clean version of Media Center Edition XP so now I don't know what the problem is.
edit 2: I made a bootable USB for XP and everything is installing properly except it is saying my product key is incorrect. I am using the key that came on my computer which says Media Center Edition 2005 which is the version that I am installing. Why won't the key work?
