To find better than semi-annual sale prices you have to wait for seasonal closeouts, which are unannounced and hard to find, in my size especially. (then you have to wait to wear the clothes you bought since they were purchased out of season...)
I really like brooks brothers extra slim fit shirts (except for the box/center rear pleat, but I can live with it), but can't afford more than $40/shirt. I have sometimes found extra slim fit shirts (not no-iron) on their sale page throughout the year for $40+tax+shipping (rare to get free shipping from BB), however those shirts are normally not standard light blue / white. You get various stripe and check patterns, which are fine for my line of work. Once only I was able to find sale price, $40 white exra-slim fit not during a big sale, but it had a less popular type of collar. Note: the extra slim fits are quite slim, not for someone with much a belly at all. Slim fit is actually not what I'd call slim, so most sorta not in shape people would be fine with them.. It's pretty rare to be able to beat $40/fitted shirt from BB, since they offer coupons so rarely. Sometimes their sized (S/M/L) shirts go a little lower, like $30-$35 each, but I find those fit quite poorly. The sleeves are too short/long, and the collar is too tight/loose, resulting in not looking as sharp as if I were wearing a cheaper fitted (by sleeve/collar meas.) lands end shirt. For basic color work-shirts with no iron finish, I have recently been able to get tailored fit land's end oxford shirts (100% cotton) for ~$13 in staple colors with coupons. Yes the quality is a bit lower, but the price is substantially lower (for a still acceptable quality product). With a sweater or jacket on, its honestly hard to tell the difference. Edit: for slim people I also highly recommend their milano pants if they can be had for at least 30% discount. You really can feel the difference between them and cheaply made dockers, etc. - edit - I of course meant cotton milano pants. BB wool dress pants are so over priced - look at Edmorel, Howard Yount, mabitex/incotex for better quality/price. Edit 2: I wonder if the 15% will apply to their filson products and/or shoes? Thats a nice discount for a Filson briefcase, and they stock some rather high end and expensive shoes which rarely see even 15% off... Edit 3: Searching through this, it seems like their suits aren't marked down quite as much as they used to be - I'm seeing only ~25% discount.. You could still do O.K. if stacking the 15% (additive or multiplicative I wonder..), but most stores in my experience do not stock milano suits, so you'd have to settle for Fitzgerald. (unless the 15% will work online as well?) $698 - 15% = $593 - not bad. Being half canvassed that's probably about what the suit is worth without major retailer markup. http://www.brooksbrothers.com/Mil...&cgid=0216 (navy) Last edited by frqkjt; 12-24-2012 at 05:54 PM.. |

Filson 257, tan available, $275 - 15% = ~$234. I assume tax and shipping somewhat kill the deal however.
http://www.brooksbrothers.com/Fil...ens-filson No tan Filson 256 available. For the jeans crowd: Brooks Brothers Exclusive Red Wing 4553 Oil Cloth Boot $310 -> $232 - 15% = $197 http://www.brooksbrothers.com/Bro...&cgid=0522 Last edited by frqkjt; 12-24-2012 at 06:18 PM.. |
