Received my monocular this evening. It was in a brown box with one tape seal cut and then sealed with a strip of clear tape. It's well made and works just fine. For $65 it'll be great on backpacking trips with my son...he thinks it's the coolest thing ever.
I got the white box too. a pack of Rayovac CR123 (2 pcs) costs $10 at Walmart.... screw it....
It seems fun. I haven't got a chance to test it outside.... full moon and snow for the first time in a while.... I don't need night vision to see things from distance..
I tested it indoors the image celerity is good (nothing to compare but I am happy with it for the price). I was expecting a bigger eyepiece like the ones on a riflescope. Adjustable magnification would be helpful for things really close, in situations like when you need to find the flashlight in the bedroom during a power outage.......LOL
Strange. After I power off my unit -- and even remove the battery -- the unit stays on for a significant amount of time. I am guessing that there is a fairly large capacitor that is being drained. Anyone else experience this?
Playing with it for the first time tonight I am not all that impressed with it. But there also is heavy fog outside right now, so I will play with it again when that is gone.
BTW, a six pack of CR123's are about $12 on amazon.
