I have both of these combos in one of my builds.
A few comments. Only two USB 3.0 ports in the back. No motherboard headers for front USB 3.0 Mobo supports up to 32GB of RAM. I got the board for $59 and 32GB of RAM for $120. 4 DIMM slots for a $70 board is pretty big deal for me. Runs Linux and Windows 7 fine. I'm currently running Mint 14. It has IOMMU for hardware passthrough for vmware ESXi. I haven't tested it yet but the IOMMU option enabled in the bios will freeze Ubuntu (this is documented somewhere). Running all 6 cores is where the box shines. Specifically running Linux or a hypervisor. ffmpeg multi-threaded encoding are about 80% as fast as a new i7. That is very good considering the CPU is $90 vs $300 for a 3770K. In general purpose, an i5 (even i3) will be faster but then again, I have a different workload than most people so the FX processor fits me fine. |

ii) saw the FB ads before the scans were posted, was not aware preposting ad scans was equivalent to posting actual deal links and pricing on day of Most folks probably don't want to see a list of unrelated items like motherboards and memory buried with TV and camera noise. Someone else complained earlier that the FP thermal paste deal was mentioned in a refurb ATX case deal, that wouldn't help many folks either. Btw think you've paid more attn to the 7k reps than I did - trying to make it personal? Pretty weak and transparent

It was never personal. Like a lot of veterans, though, I have been frustrated about the recent (perceived) decline of the forums. I'm not touching this further, though, since I've already pointed out that I unfairly targeted you, apologized for it, and dropped the argument. Cheers. |
