that's not the right question. but mines a dell, i picked it up from the outlet for around $200 and then added a tuner card for $20 that comes around once in awhile. make sure to get the normal tower, the slim ones aren't as easy to find parts for.
the question you want to know is, how will you connect your internet via htpc. you'd have to move the router next to the tv.

it can be either an desktop or a laptop. basically you connect a pc to yoru tv and use it as a huge monitor. with a tuner card, Windows Media Center becomes your own personal dvr and movie library.
if smart tv's are "smart" an htpc is an artificially intellligent terminator.

I had purchased "Hauppauge PCTV HD 80e mini Stick PCTV23058RS USB 2.0 Interface" from newegg for $20 (from a SD post) more than one year ago. I never used it. But will try connecting it and try Windows Media Center.
