Im actually looking for a similar term myself which explains why people RECOMMEND items more when they are expensive and they like it, versus simply just liking it. I read it one time in reference to iPads, as well as Tempurpedic mattresses

I own an old Dyson DC15, and paid a pretty penny for it ($399), but I got so sick and tired of having countless Dirt Devil, Shark, and Kenmore vacuums break on me (I have used many from growing up, going to college and back, moving, etc), and the Dyson is surprisingly resilient. The best part is, when it needs service, I can bring it to any independent repair place, and Dyson pays the bill to them. So much better than waiting in line at the Sears service center, and coming back 2 weeks later.
