I just got the HTC One V for 50 beans. Tried getting this on BF but lines were crazy long. I'd get the One V for 50 over this, but since it's not available at that price right now this is the best deal.
It ain't what you do, it's the way that you do it.
These Virgin deals lately are screamers, the price brings them into competition with cheap mp3 players (these prices have got to be way below cost), with bluetooth GPS Android etc added and you don't need sim or activation to use. I bought one this morning but haven't opened it. I'm aggregating these Virgin closeouts since they are basicaly mini single core android tab/internet phones (with Skype, etc) with an option to get data or phone if you want. They also serve as nice music solutions around the house, paired with various bluetooth speakers and docks. The $20 Venture from a week or so ago (really good speaker for internet radio/mp3/podcasts) seems to give an activation nag screen every startup, the HTC One V (great IPS gorilla screen and build, but crummy speaker) does not. Would someone who has opened but not activated a Rise please reboot it a couple of times and see if there is a nag screen and if so, does it go away after a reboot? Also, how's the speaker, wifi and bluetooth music transmission? I assume there will be good root/roms for this over time but it would be nice up front to know how it performs out of box unactivated. Thanks
Given that the inferior Venture and LG Slider were FP a couple of weeks ago at 20 this better phone at 30, with better processor and features and nationally available, should be FP too IMHO.

I agree with threebeers. This should be FP. Reps and TU in any case. Just got this phone from target. Plugged it into the USB and connected it to the office WiFi network. This will be my first ever cell phone and at $30 the price is right until I can get my hands on an S3. My Creative Zen Vision M just broke, so I needed a music player as well and every HTC review complains how bad they are as music players. The review for this phone mentioned that the audio quality is not bad when used as a music player. Will see how this does. A couple of things I've found:
SAR Rating: 1.14 (Although it says Sprint/Nextel and not Virgin)
I got one of these as a backup to my One V. I was very surprised how nice of a phone it is. It is fairly easy to root (details here: Androidforums[androidforums.com] Mine rooted on the second try, be sure to read up first if you are new to rooting. Good battery life (per reviews), nice clear sound, fairly good slide out keyboard, tethers nicely once rooted. An amazing deal for $30, should be front page.
