most decent quality loose leaf tea can also be seeped more than once. Meaning you can make more than 1 cup using the same tea. Best way to get most bang for your buck out of tea is to seep it in a pot of some sort, and then get that tea stored in something else, seep the same tea again, put that away etc. I drink white tea, and the silver needle I buy, I seep 3 times. The 3rd time I leave it seeping for an extra 2 minutes. Works like a charm and allows your tea to go a lot further. Not sure if this will make sense for a college student making it in their dorm room and what not, but just some friendly info for all other tea drinkers. I'm not sure if this process will work for all types of teas, but I think any quality loose leaf tea should allow for more than a single seeping... |

Thanks OP, repped. I have a friend and a brother with birthdays coming up, and for $30 each, I was able to get them 3 tins to fill with 8 oz of samurai chai, orange blossom, and acai mate -- oh and a pound of fancy sugar to boot (which seemed overpriced at just under $9, but various blogs and overwhelmingly positive reviews of the german rock sugar convinced me it was probably worth trying, and at least would make for a more complete gift set).

Seeping? You sure are knowledgeable about tea. |

1. This only works on some teas, in particular the green varieties with short steeping times. I have yet to find a black tea that tastes good steeped more than once. 2. The first brew is better than subsequent brews; I find the tea gets more and more bitter when brewed multiple times. My answer to the question was pulled directly from Teavana's FAQ btw Personally I find I need to use more tea than they state in the instructions so I get a bit less than the advertised 25-30 cups.

I'm having a slight problem.
Ordered 16 tea's total at 2 oz each. Correct me if I'm wrong but 16 oz = 1 lb so 32 oz = 2 lb's. I'm only getting the 10% discount for the 1 lb tea but not the 15% discount.... shady business... unless their oz weighs less then other ounces... In either case, check how much you have when you ordered. I'm going to call CS tomorrow when they open. |
