Better AF, faster shooting, more cross-type focus points and low-light features of the 5D3 make it a more useful camera to me than the color depth and dynamic range of the D800.

The 6D's crummy AF made it a sufficiently easy choice to pass up.

Nikon did trump Canon spec-wise (especially the sensors) but the 5D3 I believe has better low light capabilities, better AF, and is faster overall. What is likely keeping the price high is Canon's new minimum advertised pricing policy. We see lots of deals through eBay vendors (BigValue, GetItDigital, etc.) almost every week selling the 5D3 for $2799. Adorama had it once at that price, but that was before the pricing policy change.

With the 6D having a single SD slot, comparatively crummy AF, and inferior build to the 5D3, I think we'll see prices remain somewhat stable, just my guess though. The 5D2 is now discontinued, so those wanting robust AF and multiple memory card slots have only one choice, 5D3.

D5 Mark iii have awesome ISO settings that probably don't even require that direct flash. Anyways I would get an external flash for this to bounce it.

Any good small flash ? Was thinking of the 270ex. Already own the 580ex but it is too bulky for walk around. Need something small that will work.

Depends on what you intend to do with the camera. Shoot architecture, sports, wild-life? How do you display your work? Web? Poster prints? Are you a pixel peeper? What lens do you intend to use?

An APS-C vs FF body isn't going to make a difference by itself.

Please explain why the 5D Mark III is so much better than the 7D ? I mainly take sports photography and the speed of the 7D is remarkable that the 5D can't beat it. With the dual processor, the 7D is like a work horse. This is almost a $2000 price difference. Isn't it better to invest in better lenses than upgrading to a 5D ? For potraits I use alot of fill flash and the 5D doesn't have a built in flash.
