Buying a house at Auction - Advice Needed
Fellow Slickdealers,
I'm turning to the community I know to be the most savvy on any topic generally related to money/investing for advice in a life decision -
We (wife and I) want to live in a specific housing development. Turns out that it's a popular place and that quality properties are rarely put up for sale. I found one, turns out it's a house that is in foreclosure and is approaching it's auction date - 2 weeks away and counting. The house is only 6 years old.
I've heard all the warnings and read plenty of articles, but I've been keeping an eye on the area for over a year now. There's not much else that's come up and this foreclosure is a good opportunity for us. We want it as our primary residence, and plan to raise our kids there.
I'd like to hear any advice from people who have either successfully or unsuccessfully bid on a foreclosed house and what sorts of things I should look out for, traps, and just any other things to consider.
This could be our chance to get the house of our dreams. I think it's a worthwhile risk and I'm really eager for it to be a successful endeavor, I just want to make sure that the emotions don't get to me and I make a monumental mistake.
Thanks All!
