Make the NT rock and install Jelly Bean boot via microSD in 10 easy steps:
1) Format a good SD [google.com] card of at least 4GB in size (A good SD card should have a formatted Crystal disk [cnet.com]4k QD32 write of 1 or greater.) I found the 16gb G.Skill Cl10 cards from newegg were great - QD32 1.4.
2) Download the rather stable cm10-121208_acclaim_sd_hd_img.rar [google.com] and extract the image file using 7-zip [7-zip.org].
3) Write the extracted image to the SD card using win32diskimager [mediafire.com]. Make sure you are writing to the SD card and not to some other portable drive or SSD on your PC! NOTE: This creates an exact copy, MAC ID and everything, so if you put this on 2 tablets using the same wifi you will have communication issues. Delete /system/etc/firmware/ti-connectivity/wl1271-nvs.bin by using File Manager > Menu > Settins > Access mode > Root Access mode > Allow permission > Browse to nvs bin directory > Click on the lock icon > Change status to RW > Delete file and reboot (turn off and then on) the tablet to allow android to select the MAC ID from your NT's hardware. This is probably a good idea even if you just have one tablet.
4) Open MiniTool Partition Wizard [partitionwizard.com] and you should see your PC's partition(s) (leave these alone) and 5 partitions including the unused partition on the microSD card.
5) Delete Partition 4 (Fat 32 SDCARd) and hit Apply
6) Delete the Other partition ~600mb and hit Apply (Neither of those two partitions had any files in them. DO NOT delete the 1st or second partitions which both have the necessary files already inside.)
7) Create a new partition called DATA and select Primary and Ext 4. Make the size 1-4GB (or more) depending on app usage. This is where apps will install. It you are an app hog, them go with 4GB. I went with 2.5GB. Hit Apply.
8) Create a new partition called SDCARD and select Primary and FAT32. The size should be the remaining card space by default - leave it this way. Hit Apply.
9) Close the Partition Wizard, remove the microSD card and place it in the NT that is currently turned off (it needs to be off and not in the sleep state).
10) Turn the NT on and welcome to Jelly Bean. (If you reboot it will go back to stock NT. If you turn it off and then on it will boot Jelly Bean.) Enjoy!

How's the refurb quality from Frys? Are they as good as the ones from B&N on ebay?

I didn't think I would like a tablet but I got my wife one for christmas because she wanted an e-reader. I put 4.1 JB on the SD card for her in about 10 minutes and I couldn't put it down
 . Thanks for this but I am going to wait and see if it ever comes back down to $90 before I bite on one for myself.

How's the refurb quality from Frys? Are they as good as the ones from B&N on ebay?
It says warranty one year. So these should be almost brand new (but certiifed pre owned.) which means customer returned item. |

Lol....same here. Got one for my daughter and I found myself spending more time on it then she is. I wiped, rooted, and installed 4.1 JB on it. |

shipping has to be Ground right? it won't let me checkout with Ultra Saver. edit: it has to be Ground if you're placing the order online. He's impressed with the speed and I haven't heard a peep about stability - he loves that he can boot it right back into the native B&N environment because he says the Netflix quality is enhanced using the B&N app - and of course there are all the journal's he'll be reading in the B&N reading app  . I don't know what this thing is like fully rooted and reinstalled but the SD card experience is good enough that a tech savvy 20 year old couldn't be happier.
