Help a newbie get this TV deal?

Hey guys, so I've found this thread for a solid deal on a new TV, but I don't know what I need to be doing to max out on my savings. It looks like I need to have a few things in order to get it, but I'm not really clear on what these points programs are or how to sign up or how to use points etc. It seems like some of you guys have your own dialect here in terms of membership points for different discounts, etc.

I'm after the 50" TV, and I'd like to buy the TV online or in-store in the Seattle area. I'm a Canadian though, so I'm not sure if that complicates my registration for any of the programs people are in that are giving them rebates/discounts.

Anyway, please help? Much obliged!

You get 5% using a sears credit card and you can get 8% cash back for clicking the sears link on e bates. Or if you have a discover cash back card and that give you 5% for online shopping.

Really? I'm not sure I understand how that's a better deal for the ~$320 these people are paying for the 50" TV.
