I have been using MFP for a few months and highly recommend it. It is a free and simple way to keep track of calories. It just takes a few minutes everyday to input food consumed and exercise, and I'm losing weight. I use it on my Android phone, so it's convenient. Some people might benefit from the support sytem of MFP. There are many inspirational posts and people on the forums. The only annoying thing at times is not knowing exact calories of certain foods, but I approximate. I like the code reader. For anyone looking to lose weight, it's important to note that MFP offers the framework, but it is up to the person to be driven, consistent, and patient.
The app is good! I've been using this app since the beginning of November and lost 6 pounds so far. I recommend trying it out - it is easier to use than sparkpeople and such because it is a handy app on the phone, so no need to go to the computer. I think there is a spark app, but this one is just overall nicer than spark, imo. Though, if you want a support system, spark is probably better.
Thanks for the info! I like the fact that I can use my phone, iPad or PC to enter things. I haven't tried the code reader yet, but I think it will be handy. Congrats, you two, on losing weight! I'm hoping to do the same!
