For some reason, Ad-hoc wireless was removed in Windows 8. However you can use the following scripts to start/stop an ad-hot network. Save it as 'adhoc.bat' and run 'adhoc start' or 'adhoc stop' with administrative privileges.

Yes. Apple will not delete the app from your library. But you should back up the app file since Apple will remove it from their store, so if you get a new computer or delete the app, there's no way to get it back.
