Anyone got a warning using this from AT&T before?
Also curious. I'd love to be able to tether but I don't want to lose my unlimited plan.

I have unlimited AT&T grandfathered plan and I was tethering on a jailbreak 4/4s before and they red flagged my account and told me if it was spotted again I would be pulled off.

However, I'm not sure if ATT can tell if your tethering or not I guess its by how much data you used a month? like over 10gb?

WiFi-only tether.

Yes. Apple will not delete the app from your library. But you should back up the app file since Apple will remove it from their store, so if you get a new computer or delete the app, there's no way to get it back.

For those who want to use this app with Windows, here are the Windows (Vista, 7, 8) instructions:

What's the preferred way to back up an app file?

I've got tons of warning over the years using the unlimited att plan. You will just get warning. If you go over 4 or 5 gigabytes (can't remember which) they will start throttling your connection speed down and you won't be able to use LTE until the end of your billing period.. I would keep that in mind if you plan to do any downloading while tethering

Has nothing to do with how much data you use. I got caught last year and lost my unlimited plan. My wife uses less than 1.5gb a month she has rarely tethered only a couple of times when she was on a business trip. Did not go over 2gb the whole month and she got caught. A phone cal denying everything saved her once lie it did me but I think they flag the account and watch it somehow!

I don't believe this will work to tether your iPhone to iPad as you need to create an adhoc network. So you can only tether your Macbook to your iPhone.

There is a good chance that since this app is the itunes store, it does not change your apns while tethering.

This means that depending on your carrier, you will get caught.

ATT does monitor for this. Unless something has change, you may get a warning or two to stop. After the couple warnings they will change your account on you.

If you want a tethering solution, though it is not optimal. Use itether.com if you have an iphone. You can tether through the usb port on your laptop. It uses their apns so you will not get caught. It is 30 dollars a year though.

If you want to use it as a mobile hotspot, you need to jailbreak your phone and I believe the paid version of pdanet changes your apns.

Good to know. I was using iTether previously, but didn't like the USB tether. After a while when they changed it to the newer software my old one the $14.99 app stopped working. Maybe that's why I never had an issue though.
