For those that are thinking of ordering, I thought I'd upload a pic of our phone that was installed this afternoon. It is truly life changing for us. I was able to talk to my husband for the first time and have him hear every word. Installation was truly a breeze and there were no questions or deep interrogation, just friendly conversation regarding the unit and hearing loss in general. The gentleman that did the installation had a cochlear implant and was more than happy to talk about hearing loss and deafness. The unit will also play your voicemail or answering machine messages. Automatic updates are done through the computer - similar to a Windows update...it just happens and let's you know it is there. Right now, the only downside, if there was one, would be that the volume is rather low, but there is a software update coming out to fix that. I would highly suggest this to anyone with hearing loss. Many thanks to the OP for posting this for us.

TU RiverF! Had this installed today for Mum. She loves it! Karen who brought the phone & set it up was wonderful. Very easy to use...great phone...great technology.
NO need to have a wired internet connection. Wireless works perfectly. Repped & thumbs up 4 OP! I was told by installer they had to hire more people due to the volume of calls for the phone...I'm sure this is why some people are having a long wait. Last edited by Kmadd; 01-10-2013 at 07:23 AM.. Installer installed my sister's earlier today. She said it went very smooth and is SO happy she let me persuade her to get one.
Told me if she had known about this sooner and the no strings attached, she would have gotten it sooner. She is now getting one for her husband's dad who was forced to retire early due to losing his hearing after a machine explosion. He hasn't been able to talk on the phone for 11 years and she has high hope this will work for him. This should honestly be on the front page. What's the deal with that? I see a lot of useless things on the front page (with good deals no doubt) but not life-changing stuff like this. I was also on their FB page and there is confession after confession of what a blessing this device has been to them. Of course there are also those rants of people complaining about poor captioning, but that's probably got something to do with their internet and not the product, from my experience anyways. I'm somewhat new to these forums. Long time lurker, but new to the added features of having an account. Is there some method for nominating front page deals or how does that work? Price - Obviously not a factor here Reputation of company providing product - Don't think that's an issue since it's owned by Sorenson Reputation of poster - Seems certain posters get preference on their posts going FP. Not sure how that part works. Supply - Doubt that would be the issue Benefit - SD probably would not benefit from it (may be a factor?) Thumbs Ups - Not an issue here Forum Feedback - Doesn't seem like that would be an issue either *shrug* Who knows. |

Still waiting in S Cal - I even sent them an email to make sure they received my order from the 27th. They replied "Because we do have so many phone orders, it is taking longer than we would like". And yes, I do have an hearing impairment and have two hearing aids, but I don't like wearing them

NotReal, we ordered when this was first posted and we just got the call on Tuesday of this week. He said they had been very busy. I agree that this should be a FP deal. I do believe that due to the cost (free) and the incredible value of the product, more people should know about it so they can benefit from it.

It should be free.
from CC.me [captioncall.me]The captioning service is free. Captioning is provided by CaptionCall and paid through a fund administered by the Federal Communications Commission. View free, nearly instant captions of what your callers are saying on the large, easy-to-read display screen of your CaptionCall Phone. With the CaptionCall Service, you get captioning that’s: Free—No new bills and no monthly charges; captioning is fully funded by the FCC. Automatic—No need to dial through the Captioning Service. Secure—Safe, encrypted, FCC-regulated transcription. How it works You hear your caller’s voice over a standard phone line. The CaptionCall Phone sends their voice to the CaptionCall Service, which quickly converts words to text. The text is displayed on the screen of your CaptionCall Phone. CaptionCall is only made available to individuals who have a meurlhasbeenblockedgnized hearing disability necessitating their use of the service. The CaptionCall service is supported through the federal government’s Interstate Telecommunications Relay Service fund. This fund is established to fulfill the mandate of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to provide functionally-equivalent communications to people with hearing loss. The CaptionCall service uses communication assistants who convert the calling party’s spoken words into captioned text. All calls made through CaptionCall must include a hearing-impaired person. |

Unless it's during a promotion. I thought the Thumbing system was part of that, but after looking around, that doesn't appear to be the case, but rather more of a system for regular users to judge a thread by. I did try a mod alert to let them know I thought this should be front page. Oh well. Last edited by NatalieSha; 01-10-2013 at 08:18 AM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |
