I did 4 of these from the original deal thread, all 4 of my rebates show as valid. I bought in store, signed up for a rewards account on the spot, and entered all of my rebate information online.

No struggle whatsoever, no issues. Sorry for those that got caught up, but if these were fresh rebates, I'd have no hesitation on diving in again. I followed directions and things worked out, as they usually tend to with rebate submissions.

I've done Ace rebates numerous times in the past without issue. I'm not sure about online orders, but if you buy this in the store and give them your Ace Rewards number you can submit the rebates completely online (no mail-in), very similar to Staples Easy Rebates.

Anyhow, after reading your post, I must recant my negative statement that all the tools were poor quality. You are right, everything except the screwdrivers appeared to be ok quality. When I looked at the quality of the screw drivers I realized immediately they will strip out easily and then I wished I had not gotten involved in this nightmare.

I haven't really tried any of the tools yet...I am still trying to get the bad taste out of my mouth in regards to what I had to endure to even obtain these tools.

I thought the knife, blades and tape measure were all worth the $2. The level may be OK, but nothing great either. Avoided the screwdrivers.

Had to call after the rebate was rejected.

Just got off the phone with the rep and the 10-piece set is not magnetic. I bought a set once before that is not magnetic, i.e. the screws fall off your screwdriver, and that set collects dust. FYI.

Checked in same boat as you will do online chat session. Reps for reminding me to check.

i suggest you buy in store if you are willing to deal with poor customer service.
1) online pickup is a joke and they will mess it up
2) rebate has strong possibility to get screwed up

everything is fixable but is it worth the hassle?

I also had a problem--the store only had one (out of the 3 or 4) items I ordered. The whole online Ace Hardware being a separate entity from the individual stores seems to be the main source of the problem.

I will have to call them, hopefully the will straighten it out. Haven't had time because of the holidays.

P.S. I also did get my receipt on a dot-matrix printer. My dad had one of those that I semi-recently recycled.

The difference seems to be online versus in store pickup. They don't seem to have very modern technology to enable all this whizbang stuff they are trying to do.

Thankfully this thread pointed out that there was a problem with the rebate. Mine showed as invalid for all items purchased from previous thread. A quick call with csr and she cleared it up. Said I had to have the rewards card prior to placing the order. For $2, I should probably pick up the level as well

Right it's the same and you can't do it again. This is a blatant repost and the original thread was even listed by one of the first people to respond. I don't understand how this thread has lasted as long as it has.

Because the OP in the original thread says good until 12/24, even though the ad, rebate and wiki say good until 12/31. Mods consider this a "new deal" and won't merge them
