This is NOT WHOLE WHEAT.

Whole grain does not even necessarily mean 100% whole grain - it just means WITH whole grain
It can even be, and often is, plain white flour with other stuff added back.
So don't think for a second that it is unadulterated or even necessarily any better for you.
Whole grain also does not mean wholly wheat - it can be ANY grain.

If the label says Durum or Semolina, it is definitely not 100% whole wheat.

There are even some that maintain that plain old white enriched flour is 100% Whole Wheat because it is "Wholly" made of wheat and not other grains.

Those marketing types are tricky little beasties.

Well said however just to speak in regards to Barilla's "Whole Grain" its 51% whole wheat. They refer to it as whole grain due to the fact it is a mix of whole grain flour, Semolina, and Durum wheat flour. It's also 3x more fiber then Barilla's standard pasta. They make a mix as it creates for a better textured pasta then one which is 100% whole wheat.

Was thinking the same thing. They're regularly about a buck here but go on sale often for less. Usually between 2 for $1 and 79 cent each.

Why does healthy have to taste like cardboard?
If you're looking for something to eat without lots of sauce, then you should probably stay away from this. We've tried it from al dente all the way through to well-cooked, and this stuff is just bland -- almost like eating paste. It was well-priced, but the flavors just weren't there. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

they tasted bad with and without sauce...dunno how rachel ray even says wheat pastas taste the same as nonwheat pastas

Broth? Not me. Spaghetti sauce is loaded with sodium and adding broth just increases it. I suppose if you don't want spag sauce.....
