i dont know what's going on, but removing hdparm from rc.local and it's still unmounting itself.

is it possible to have a cron job run every 6 hours to remount these shares? seems more like a band-aid solution, but idk any other way to fix this.

Code:
0 */6 * * * mount -t nfs4 IP.ADDRESS:/share1 /mnt/share1
would something like that work?

does anyone here have one of those android sticks? i just bought one, and i'm trying to get xbmc to see my nfs shares from the pogoplug, but for some reason the nfs shares that i set up using teetee1's steps doesnt show up. they show fine on my ubuntu computer though. not sure if it's the pogoplug or the android stick/xbmc that's causing the issue.

If they show up via ubuntu, then my money is on the android stick or network configuration.

Do you have ES File Explorer installed on your stick? Can you see your shares from the ES thru LAN shares?
If the answer is Yes, it is xbmc fault, if the answer is no, there is something wrong with your network configuration.

Hi Gang,
nice to see you all after a while...lol

So, I found a PlexApp.com [plexapp.com] thread where that person has been running PMS on PogoPlug for a while...!!!

I guess we (those waiting to install PMS on PogoPlug) need to keep a track of this Smilie
Also,
if any of you Linux masters are successful in installing it, pls do write/share the "idiot's guide" for us... Smilie Smilie

BTW Bagira,
I hope you got your ALARM setup fixed back Smilie.

i dont think the pogoplug has the cpu power to transcode 720p and above.

he may have gotten it working, but i wonder what he's able to stream without any stutter.

You can always stream without transcoding if you convert to a native format first, but I agree that transcoding is a no-go on these.

Agreed...!!!
We will have to do transcoding on PC beforehand.
Anyway,
That Linux-Guru has written an article on how to install Plex Media Server (PMS) on PoGoPlug here [barbin.us] ...!!!

If someone (who wants PMS on PogoPlug and KNOWS Linux) can confirm this, it will be great Smilie.
I would love to try it out but I am a hardcore noob in Linux so wouldn't even know if there is slight mistake/change in the commands he has mentioned.

Its has been gone fore awhile. I found this alternate guide(s) here which will show you how to install both Samba and Webmin:

http://joepetruska.com/wordpress/?p=49
http://www.webmin.com/samba-howto.html

However I can't seem to get Samba to start because ArchLinux just recently pushed out a version that changed the start/stop command to systemctl from rc.d. Still messing around with it though.

Oh this is nuts. After a month, I finally able to install Arch Linux but now I can't install Samba and reading from the posts above, there is no "newbie" solution for me to follow. Please help.

Post the drive setup and your questions and they shall be answered. Although from what I can see most questions have been answered in the previous 5 pages.

The guides have been removed from the archlinuxarm site. But you can find the samba guide via web archive: http://web.archive.org/web/201205...ions/samba

Follow the install instructions but to enable and start the service on boot, use:
Code:
systemctl enable smbd.service
systemctl enable nmbd.service
systemctl start smbd.service
systemctl start nmbd.service

Thank you. I was following that guide but run into a few snags. On nano /etc/samba/smb.conf, what do I put on the path? How would I know what drives are connected on the Pogoplug? I want to plug in a couple of 1tb WD External Drive on it.
