LED = get around the natural suckage of black levels because LCDs have a crappy technology that doesn't create its own light source. 120/240hz = get around the natural suckage of pixel refresh that has crappy motion. This depends on software to interpolate or make it "smoother" which is really nothing more than a crutch for an inferior technology. Brighter = excuse for people who view the plasmas at Best Buy only or think that you can only view the TV in the brightest circumstance thinner = who gives a crap? It's a silly aesthetic thing. power = there is not that much of a difference in modern plasmas vs LCD tvs. the real-world numbers aren't that much different, especially with ignorant LCD owners operating at torch mode. Your lifespan number is a joke. Stop pulling numbers out of your ass, troll. |

Who cares about new technology???
Who cares about new technologies. Uh I guess the 99% of the population who go out and buy electronics. Your logic makes no sense, but of course you will argue to no end because "no one" cares about new technologies. I can't explain why new technology is good to a homer like yourself. If anyone is reading his comments he is a total moron, LED is the way of the future, the man who invented LED won numerous awards. LED will soon replace almost every type of light emission. His rambling about thinner, power, etc makes no sense. LED are way more dependable and save electricity, please do not let this douche steer you to an older technology as plasma. In fact, plasma technology will soon phase out soon. I am not here to promote LED but I know a much better and efficient technology because I do work with the components. I promise you the demand for plasma components are dwindling and I expect plasma technology to disappear. How can you compete with a thinner and energy conserving technology as LED. All LED have to do is figure out how to increase the hz rate. Its basically the same when bluray came out and all these protesters would not let go of HD-DVD technology. LED is the game changer and all these manufacturers are just trying to get rid of their plasmas. You will see a huge disparity in LED supply versus plasma next year because these manufacturers are not increasing their plasma production but in fact decreasing it. But like I say to these people who think plasma is a good choice, it is only a good choice if you are getting it at a bargain, but getting a high end LED vs a high end plasma should not be the same price. LED cost more and will last you longer. This poster has no clue that LED have double even maybe triple the life of a plasma. Even any frys or best buy associate can tell you that. If you listen to a guy who starts his whole argument with "who cares about new technology" then you deserve what you get |

And LED is an LCD. Plain and simple. |

*BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE STUPID* Why would advertisers try to shill LCD TVs backlit by LEDs as "LED TVs" *BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE STUPID* Look at yourself. You think that a TV is superior because the technology that *LIGHTS* the TV is somehow "newer" which makes the TV superior. To go back to your BMW analogy, a brand new 2012 BMW 7 series that still uses incandescent lights is inferior to a 1980 Toyota Corolla because somebody installed LED headlights. Well, it uses a "new" technology to light the road, thus is must be a better vehicle! Nevermind that vehicle has 300,000 miles and requires bondo and duct tape to keep it together and accelerates from 0-60 in an hour and has manual steering, no ABS, no airbags...etc. This is what you are saying, that because an *INFERIOR* technology has a newer headlight that the *INFERIOR* technology is better. LCD is a poor technology which needed something "newer" to make it better because CFLs couldn't be made to local dim the set (or make it thinner and other things) because LCDs NEED local dimming because otherwise its black levels blow. That's because it can't produce its own light. Do you even know how an LCD works? And you are telling me that I am a fool for saying a "new" technology is better! LOL. History is littered with "new" technologies that ultimately didn't pan out. Look at Iridium, it was a "new" technology but it couldn't compete. Look at the "renesis" "wankle" engine, it was "new" but it couldn't compete against a traditional ICE. What about some of the products Apple put out (Lisa, Newton, Job's NEXT), Microsoft BOB. We could go on for years on "new" technologies that failed to replace old ones because the old ones WERE BETTER, for whatever reasons. What's sad is that uneducated people like you throw around more uneducated crap and dissuade people from buying a superior technology. This FUD is utterly misleading and ultimately harmful to society. Last edited by spierce; 12-30-2012 at 10:01 PM.. |

Just stop with your idiotic car analogy. It does not even make sense! Ask bestbuy and frys about plasma vs led (LCD)? That is funny because the consensus here is that most of those sale associates lack any technical knowledge. They would not be the people I seek for advice. Keep posting, troll. You sound smarter with each post.

Quoting maximumballer from a few posts above. Perhaps it's two different people posting from the same account. Or perhaps you have split personality, since you did quote and argue with yourself several posts earlier, but then you quickly ninja edited ![]()
