3 Cops Shot In Another Senseless Shooting

As the man was being processed on the complaint, he grabbed a gun and began firing. Three officers were hit before the suspect was shot and killed. Deputy Police Chief David Harkins says one officer suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was undergoing surgery. Two other officers suffered minor injuries.

It's pretty tough to have a shooting without guns.

If the suspect used an officer's gun, then it's worth pointing out that police in many countries, like most in the United Kingdom, do not carry firearms.

All this does is show that even those who are well and responsibly trained can have their guns taken away from them and used for malice.

I wonder how the NRA would respond if they were posed the question of "what if a few kids overpower the armed police officer they suggested be at every school and go on a shooting rampage". I for one think they would dig themselves an even bigger hole.

I have a couple friends who are British cops. There has been an increase in the amount of UK cops carrying firearms, largely due to the dramatic increases in attacks and assaults on police officers, in the last 20 years or so. They have armed squads driving around for some years now, with assault rifles and handguns, and some cops are carrying handguns concealed under their tunics, so as not to upset the public and the tourists.

An average 14 percent of all officers within England and Wales were assaulted during. 1992 [europarchive.org]

Some of the attacks are worse than others.

If only England had effective gun and grenade control, this would never have happened..............

Despite the public hue and cry about it, more and more British cops will be carrying firearms in the coming years, as England's demographics and culture becomes even more violent. Unarmed victims make easier targets, even if they're the cops.

When I took my CCW class, a guy spoke about when he was a cop he responded to a burglary where both he and the perp both unladed their mags trying to shoot each other from 20 feet inside a home and neither one was hit. Figure at least 20 rounds at close range and neither could a damn thing.

Clearly the answer is both should have had nunchucks or throwing stars to get all ninja on each other's asses. The root cause is obviously the extinction of the modern-day ninja.

Thank god that didn't happen in an apartment building. Who knows how many other people not involved whatsoever could have been shot.

England's been experimenting with the "no one be armed" idea for a number of years.

Since their gun homicide rate is virtually the same, but their violent crime went up dramatically, it doesn't sound like it worked out super well for them.
