Well made AR15 - Looks like AA only recently starting building complete rifles as my serial is well below the 250 mark.
Barrel 16" mid length govt contour - 1/7 twist - material 4150CM with coating and lining melonited
Pinned low profile gas block
A2 flash hider (screwed on for me, not welded as not required by Fl)
Forgef 7075-t^ M4 upper with M4 feedramps
Milspec buffer tube with staked castle nut
milspec forged lower (7075-T6) Type 3 anodized. Safety marked 'FIRE' and "SAFE'. The magwell chamfered.

The only minus point I could find was the included mag. It being an ASC SS model with orange no-tilt follower. Not nearly as nicely done as my PSA (D&H) aluminum ones. Came out of the bag already scuffed and with very varied welds

02/12/2013 update WesternSport is getting their appropriation of 120 rifles (Carbine & Midlength) on this Friday (2/15) and they will be working all weekend to get them ready for shipping. They will be shipped out Monday or Tuesday at the latest to those of us who were in on the pre-order. If there is a problem with your provided FFL info , you will be contacted between now and the weekend to get that corrected.

I just received a callback from Colby at Western Sports. It is a piston driven Ar and they are going like hotcakes. The inventory is accurate so better hurry. My order is in. :-)


Why piston instead of direct impingement? With a piston, the gases and carbon from the barrel don't travel through the gas tube and end up in your upper/lower receiver. So less to clean and better reliability. Do your research and decide for yourself if this for you.
