I have been hitting up PF for over 2 years now. $10/mo, $99/yr all the time.
Open 5a Mon - 9p Fri is perfect, because I go after work at 2 am. No one there, I can do what I want without giving a crap. Sat/Sun 7a-7p.
Every single person I have met there has been awesome to talk to, no attitude, no stupid crap, no muscleheads, people that just want to work out. There are some serious bodybuilders in there, soccer moms, MILFs, young kids, elderly.....and everyone just minds their own. I have heard weights dropped, and no one blinked an eye.
Clean, well-kept, if you want a jacuzzi, sauna, swimming pool, and 3 mile lap, you are in the wrong place. If you want to go do your workout, then leave, cheap.....perfect place.
Some of these people act as if you are not supposed to eat anything when working out. Everyone needs dinner. A large Domino's hand tossed cheese pizza has 2,050 calories. 620 calories from fat. That is about 30% of the calories from fat. A healthy target is 20 to 35% of your daily calories from fat. Seems to fit right in. A free slice of pizza is not going to end your life. But if it continues to annoy the ridiculous critics, then I say, keep it up Planet Fitness. This has been enjoyable.
Actually according to their calorie calculator it's 36%. You should also consider that the 20-35% should be mostly from good fats, which this is not. Beyond having too much overall fat, the pizza has about twice as much saturated fat as you should get per calorie, and twice as much sodium, while having very few nutritional benefits (decent protein is about it).
And the vast majority of people grabbing a free slice or two of pizza aren't planning it into their daily intake. While for you it may be your scheduled dinner, most people will just be supplementing their already unhealthy diet with more calories.
The point is that serving free pizza is harmful to the health of PF's target member, and hypocritical. It goes against their mission statement to build "a lasting, active lifestyle," and against their philosophy to help members "get in shape."
I've been a PF member...huh huh member...for over two years now. Never seen or heard the lunk alarm go off. I've had memberships at various other gyms over the past 10 years (Gold's Gym, Powerhouse Gym, YMCA, etc) and PF is the best by far. People actually wipe down the equipment when finished and don't act like they're in a hook up joint. It is more focused on cardio, but they do have a good selection of weight machines. Some of the machines could stand to have a few more pounds added to them, but I'm not trying to compete in the Mr. O contest, just stay in good soup-making shape. Cool.
I posted the same idea of previous PF threads: black card is the best value if you have someone working out with you like spouse, children, friends or even a SDer. You can have a guest everytime you go to the gym and both enjoy more benefits of the black card.
actually the food you're eating is probably the difference for you , its probably why you're "rail thin".
My diet has nothing to do with anything; I pretty much eat what I want, when I want, whatever If eel like eating. So maybe if you're going to assume, next time don't. The point is, if you're going just to go, who cares if they want to provide my dinner once a month.
Hi, can you tell me where you see the no auto renewal clause? I went through hell to get them to stop billing me repeatedly. It took over a year to get them straightened out - which included sending certified letters. I was hoping they had something you could just pay in advance for. I never again will let them have my CC information..not EVER.
If you go through the signup to the part where it makes you agree to the contract. The portion that authorizes them to charge your credit card or bank account is all filled in with N/A. In a normal contract that's the part that allows them to keep charging you.
