Without going into the UEFI myself, I can't tell you but that adjustment is available in Advanced Settings on my ASRock Motherboard with has a Llano previous gen AMD APU. It should be under video or memory settings. I don't understand the poo-poo'ing of Windows 8, I am finding my way around it just fine. Windows Key + R will get you the Run dialog box, you can type "Control Panel" and it comes up. I had to run RegEdit to remove a file so the Server Connector would install, minor BS. The corners are the key to unlocking the old menus/start button stuff people go with Classic Shell for, unneeded, change is good, unified OS development makes desktop OS cheaper. Thus far I have added VDJ and my WHS 2011 Server Connector and downloading files from my other laptop's image to this laptop. Its fairly quick, I know it will be faster with an SSD and more memory. Again under real world use, you won't notice a difference between this and Intel of similar power. |

Of course the CS agent got fired, but hey honesty can be brutal at times. Next up is upgrade the memory - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...llFullInfo And likely an SSD, maybe Crucial all next week. I will be done computer shopping for 2013 everything is current and up to date save for the server, I'll get to that later. |

Just an example of how poor such post are, I got a Sirius Connect for a Pioneer aftermarket CD player a few years back. It would work intermittently, not what I experienced with Sirius previously in any configuration. It ended up that the motherboard was cracked and had cold solder issues. That's why it was refurbished (IE: returned). On the test bench it was obvious it worked and passed. However in real-world use, in a moving car, it didn't work so well. A replacement unit also refurbished worked and to my knowledge STILL works 8 years later. Out of millions of products produced (given the ecological disaster computers are in landfills and being dumped in developing nations) you happen to be the one person who got a eePC that didn't last more than a year, boo-ho, spilled milk, etc, etc. I bet to add insult to injury it was just out of warranty too... I've had one product fail and that was a Maxtor hard drive. I have another Maxtor hard drive, portable, no issues, has worked flawlessly for a few years now on three different laptops. With electronics, if its going to fail it will be in that first year. Beyond that in most cases you can't even kill it without setting it on fire and throwing it off a cliff... |

Almost all my desktop components are Asus and have been nothing but reliable.
However I just returned an Asus laptop I got for Christmas... Couldn't hold a wireless network connection at all.... I had an AMD laptop a long time ago never was a fan of it in laptops. Doesn't have the power efficiency or speed that I find in Intel's... I just bought the Toshiba i5 3210m for $430 hopefully the performance is worth the price difference. With every purchase you have a chance of getting a lemon... sometimes the odds are higher than others. Friends don't let friends buy from Best Buy. Last edited by oldlady; 01-06-2013 at 01:54 PM.. |

Anyone added more RAM on this laptop? I purchased this laptop and it has 4 GB already. I used the crucial advisor and it said [crucial.com] it has one available slot and I could fit in a 8 GB RAM stick in that, thus bringing the total to 12 GB.
However, the asus site [asus.com]says, it can only take up a maximum of 8 GB in total. |
