I'm very disappointed of this laptop. I bought it on Friday and opened the box Sat night, set up was not bad and start up after the first time was fast (Of course, it's new) But it doesn't seem to be as fast as I expected it to be. Took a while to install WoW, maybe just a little faster than my 6 years old core duo 2. I got home tonight after work, the machine couldn't turn on... black screen....
I called Asus and the technician did some simple troubleshooting such as power off and on, then he told me I have to reset the machine. It took 90 minutes to complete the reset, I think that was a really long time to reset a machine, please tell me it's normal because I still think this laptop is a great deal but if it's defective then I will return it. I will test it for a week and see what happens. |

The laptop comes with one 4gb chip in it. DDR3 memory runs fastest only in pairs. So by putting a 2nd chip in there not only does the additional ram increase the computers speed, but by having the 2nd chip, it becomes twice as fast since it can take advantage of the double data rate which it cannot do with one chip. The slot is easily accessible and the chip is easy to put in. |

I don't doubt adding more memory it will performs better, but should I even spend $20 on a laptop that died on the 3rd day and will that extra memory solve the problem so it won't die again like that?
Did anyone who bought this laptop have the same problem? I wonder if it was the Win updates on shut down killed it. |

Did I miss out on this deal? Seems like it's a great deal for what I want (besides the weight). I want a portable laptop (5lbs or lighter and 14" screen size), i5 or A8 would be fine. Not much gaming but would like to use it to watch movies. I would like to get one before this month ends, is it possible that I'll see similar deals again? (Sorry I don't check on computer specs and prices unless I'm looking for one so I have to ask).

This should run Wow in med to high setting smooth. Had A8 4500m and ran lol,dota2,dota,sc2 just fine. I decided to go cheaper(also wanted oc) so returned and got my self DV6 A8-3520m for $260. Overclocked to 2.8ghz/upgrade ram to 4x4gb and so far its been running everything smooth. A8-4500m should be faster last gen A8-3520m
