I don't have this headset but with my experience with the older turtle beach headsets, I know that you can apply a fake 5.1 signal to the stereo inputs. I think it's pro logic mode. It won't be as good as the audio coming from the optical though since you would only be receiving 2 channels vs. 5. Also, does your Onkyo convert hdmi audio to analog out in zone 2? I remember when I was looking at receivers earlier this year, most of them would only output audio to zone 2 if the source input was analog. HDMI and optical audio connections could not be played over zone 2.

$200 for a headset and people here are still reccommending you buy this?

Thanks for the info and I am not sure about the conversion of HDMI to analog I was just looking at the ports and this seemed like the best bet. I will have to keep looking into it.

thegreatwb is correct. But Timothy, do you really want to pay for a fully fledged 5.1 surround headset only to feed it with a stereo source, Dolby pro logic shenanigans non widthstanding?

I have the PS3, 360, and Wii and would like all. To be connected but was thinking of using digital audio cable for direct connection between PS3 and headset since it is my most used device, but also want to be able to use these with my other devices without having to retire it for each use. And still be able to use my Onkyo when not needing headset.

I'm bored at work so I pulled up the manual for your receiver. On page 62, it says that only analog input sources are output through the zone 2 line out. This means that you will have to feed separate analog connections from your all your systems in order to use the headset on zone 2. You could also get a powered optical splitter and use that to select sources. The one I bought was from amazon and even though it's overpriced, it works just fine.

Thanks for your help, I just found this as well after looking into after seeing your earlier post, and an optical switch might be a good idea.

Just an FYI, you can't "sound whore" in black ops 2, so just in case you were getting an expensive headset for that purpose... i wouldn't. If you want a nice headset with great sound, then go for it... but I don't think you'll be gaining any type of advantage by using them like you would have in previous COD's.

The whiners about the price are obviously not FPS gamers lol.

That is true. The footsteps are too low to hear. However, having the surround angles gives you a little bit of an edge.
