If you do a lot of big writes on the SSD, then you will notice. Otherwise, I don't think so. The life expectancy, I'm not really worried about that.
Regardless the write speed, it's probably easy for you to decide since you already know you can't live with the 180GB.

I opened mine (from best buy) and installed it this weekend, its got a sata cable and the 3.5 hard drive adapter plater, plus the appropriate screws. The mini-cd is just documentation, they want you to download the software from their website. That makes sense since the latest firmware is included with the tool.

Anybody get this shipped from Amazon yet? I ordered on the 30th and has been listed as "Shipping Soon" since then.

Mine was delivered today...at home. Bah, can't wait to get home from work and try it out!

Hey guys, so I'm about to install the SSD (finally) and I was wondering what's the best way to do this? Should I just clone my hard drive or do a fresh install?

I have a 640GB and I spent a lot of time cleaning and delete crap but I'm still at over 100 GB used (~110). I have a 1 TB green drive where I moved my music and stuff.

Ideally I want this SSD as boot with a few apps, and everything else on the 1 TB drive. I used space sniffer to weed out the crap but I dunno, still seems riddled with junk.

I'm getting a 7.1 based on the WEI score running SATA 2. Does this look reasonable? I can't believe how fast it is. It's mind boggling compared to old mechanical drive, sheesh.
