Deal Details

Earlier today (before they went out of stock) the Crosman 1377 was pretty inexpensive... and now I find that Walmart has this complete Crosman Doomsday Bug-Out Survival Kit [walmart.com] with .22 Air Rifle and accessories for only $69. I've seen it for around $89, but the stock alone on this rifle is over $20, and the gun normally sells for over $45. You get a backpack, pellets and more for only $69.

I have the .177 1377 version of this gun, and it is one of the most hardnosed, accurate and versatile guns you'll find, and this .22 version is very good as well.

From the video information, this is a model 2289 .22 which doesn't have the same FPS but is similar to the 1377 model (the 1377 is .177 and has higher FPS). I've read differing reviews about whether this packaged gun has the longer barrel or not, but here are more videos for information:

Very good pellet information from Pyramid Air [pyramydair.com]

I was about to pull the trigger, but found out that it doesn't shoot BBs. Still a good deal, but I don't like having to load each shot before I fire. BTW, it seems that it comes with a bonus first aid/survival kit.

Great rifle. Took down two deer mice this past year with it.
Can it be used as a pistol?

Just curious here. What purpose could this rifle be put to? Is it just for target practice?

You could shoot zombies with it I suppose... I was shooting zombies with mine last year...nothing happened to the zombies other than the sickening gooey *thunk* sound when the projectile entered their carcass, but I was shooting them with it anyway. You'd think it would at least slow them down a little...but even shots in their eyes didn't seem to help that. Might work better on zombie rodents maybe...

When I was a kid I used to use a .22 pellet rifle and got my fair share of birds and rabbits. So this gun would be for small game. Not sure if it is any good though but I guess it is better than nothing for a "survival kit".

Well, of COURSE it's discounted. WalMart obviously stocked up for the impending apocalypse. With the date of the apocalypse come and gone, I'm sure they're pretty heavy on stock.

Which model of Crosman is this? By itself, that is?

And from the look of it, you have to have the stock attached, unless there's a replacement piece for the right side (and possibly left side?) of the grip.

Yes it is. I picked up the .177 Cal version and it is nearly impossible to miss a bird, rat, mouse, gopher, etc. when your target is under 20 yards away.

At ten yards with a zoom scope, I could easily choose which eyeball to hit in the squirrels that were raiding our pecan nut trees. Within a few days two entire squirrel families graduated to squirrel heaven and we never lost another pecan nut to these thieves.

Yes, Walmart is including lots of nice extras.

Yes, this 1377 can easily be removed from the stock and used as a deadly varmint pistol. [Skeleton stock is detachable with quick-release and requires no tools].

I like to use it to kill unwanted rodents such as rats, gophers, mice, garden destroying birds, etc. and this little "toy" is extremely effective for such rodent control.

These pellet guns are extremely effective in training children/youth the basics of gun safety, gun range etiquette, basic shooting skills, etc. There are no loud bangs as in gun powder actuated weapons.

I included a pick of my .177 cal with a couple of modifications such as the steel breach upgrade with the open reflex sight.

At ten yards, you can hit a nickle/dime 10 out of 10 shots if you have some decent shooting skills.

Hope this helps!
