$37 - Android 4.0 Mini PC Stick MK802 1GB @ Amazon (Prime Eligible)

was thinking of getting one back in the day, but have no real use for it as of now. But i think you can boot linux with this one.

Good find for anyone who wants to try these out. These things are still really buggy and this one is a but underpowered but for $37 and a American seller this might scratch some peoples itch.

I would recommend a different seller through Amazon though. This seller is only at 89% satisfaction whole others are a but higher, plus a few of the others are fulfilled by Amazon which is a huge plus. Nice one

There is a MUCH better version of this for nearly the same price. There is no longer any reason to buy the original MK802.

The reasons? There are a few minor reasons not to buy the original, but the main reason is that the original models overheat.

Instead, get the MK802 ii.

This revised edition has recently been selling at Amazon and elsewhere for as little as $36. It's mostly the same hardware, but in a slightly different form factor and with a voltage regulator that keeps the heat in check. It also has soft-off and a number of other features not found on the original version.

My MK802 ii rarely gets over 90 degrees F. Some of the vendors on Amazon selling the original MK802 are shipping out the MK802 ii instead. If you order this, you may get lucky and receive the newer version. The problem is you can't be guaranteed you'll get the newer version unless you order the newer version.

Order the newer version.

I would not buy these. Could end up getting one with WiFi problems. I bought one a few months back and the WiFi is slow. I bought my dad a ug802 off amazon ~52 $ and that thing flies. User interface and WiFi.

I have the mk802 and only thing I use it for is to play movies off a USB drive through MX player.I even have it set to performance govenor and its ok but would advise against it

They have a dual-core version out now right? How much is that? Seems it'll be a bit more future proof than this. I've had a few Android devices over the years and notice that you'd want at least dual-core 1ghz CPU w/ 1GB ram to have a decent exp with ICS or higher android.

The dual core isn't necessary if the device will primarly be used for playing video. The single-core MK802 ii plays 1080p with no problems at all, the wifi also works quite well.

The original version overheated and had a number of other more minor issues. Most of those issues were fixed in the MK802 ii. It doesn't overheat. It has soft-off. It definitely has hardware supported video playback of 1080p (Some say it supports even higher resolutions).

If you want to play a lot of the latest, greatest 3d games, perhaps waiting for a quad-core version wouldn't be a bad idea. If it's going to be used as a video player or for 2d games, there's no need to pay extra for dual or quadl-core. There's no need to spend any more than $36.

i have one of the imito mk2 ones that were hawked on here by some guy

it works good as a unit, but the wireless seems flakey...havent had time to upgrade the firmware to see if it fixes the issues

Cool, actually most of my android devices are phones or tablets. I use a lot of widgets, and I have about 4 to 5 email accts along with multiple calendars syncing constantly. I notice most devices are okay first few days, but after a month or so usage, they start to slow down. With each newer device with faster processor and more polished Android though, it does handle multi-tasking better.
I keep forgetting I already have an Ouya coming in HOPEFULLY by February so I'll have something to mess with soon.
