Reboot everything. Set a static IP on your Rikomagic. Reboot everything. Try different physical ports on both your switch and on your router. (unplug the wires and replace in an unused port) Sometimes one port will just stop working or stop working well. Reboot everything. Try with the device plugged directly into your router, reboot. Test the ports with a laptop or other device. Try a different cable (though this is very unlikely to be the issue). As for testing after each step, try to test local (wired) throughput rather than internet streaming. You can never be sure what's going on outside your own network. I ordered the MK802 II from Amazon seller EpicVideo. The stick appears authentic and I ran StabilityTest for ~15 minutes with no problems. It came in the multicolored box and says Rikomagic MK802 Mini PC for Android 4.0 on it.
I'm rather disappointed with its performance. I installed MX Player along with the DTS codec. I tried streaming some MKVs on it using ES File Explorer and a Windows share. Some of the 1080p videos play flawlessly, but some 720p videos have problems in bright scenes which I believe are more difficult to decode. Some MKVs won't let me fast forward or seek, an extremely annoying problem. I tried the same MKV that would not seek on my tablet and it seeked fine in MX Player. Other gripes: the settings provided in the variously media players I've tried are incredibly lacking compared to PC media players. Not the stick's fault, but it's worth noting if you plan to use the stick as a media center. The other annoyance I encountered was that when using a mouse, I always have to click the mouse around the bottom of the screen to bring up the status bar and then click the pause button on bar. Using MPC-HC, just clicking anywhere would pause. This is likely because no one expected their media player software to be used on an Android stick, and you can't move the touch cursor without clicking as well. I wish someone would port the MPC-HC interface to Android: the one click pause and the move the mouse to the bottom to get a status bar (not have to click to get the bar). I tried a few media players and encountered similar technical problems and annoyances in all the ones I tried. If anyone has recommendations for solving any of these problems, please let me know. http://www.rikomagic.co.uk/forum/...f=6&t=3297 Oddly, one of my MK802 II's shipped with firmware version that was fast, the other with a very laggy firmware version. I updated the laggy one to Uhost, the other I've kept stock. I'd like to put the fast stock firmware on both, but it's not available for download anywhere. I did some cursory research on ripping the fast stock ROM from my device, but didn't see any concise directions for doing so on these devices. The Uhost firmware is not at all laggy and probably your best choice until the CyanogenMod 10 port is more polished. Last edited by Larron; 02-05-2013 at 08:03 PM.. |
