We spend a lot more on fat people in this country than $150 per person. If this helps people lose weight it's probably a win-win, but I wouldn't expect you to believe that with your usericon.

This is crazy. Does that make me crazy for considering it?

I would think that having $150 of my own money at stake would be a pretty good motivator.

Only problem I see is if you have to login and verify your weight every week. If you miss 3 weeks you are disqualified. I could see myself easily doing that.

I signed up. Based on principle alone, I wouldn't allow myself to lose the $150. Who's brave enough to do the >30 to <25 BMI challenge? $300 and $1000 pay out but man, that would be tough.

I bet the redemption rate will be lower than for rebates. A lot of people will be losing $150 here, and who knows how easy it will turn out to be to claim your $300 if you actually lose the weight.

Need to lose about 41 pounds to get to get a BMI of 25. Hmm, the problem with BMI is that it doesn't take into account any muscle gain, which makes this very skewed and difficult indeed.

No, you make sense, but not the good kind. Storing all your fat in your belly region can actually be worse for a lot of other conditions, arterial plaque, bad for your organs and hormone secretion due to it.

What r the chances they will be around to pay back 300? I can do 10% reduction in 1 month (water itself can do over 5% diff without going extremes.)

I don't think this company will have any problem being around. People will use this as a motivator to lose weight, but at the end of the day, most people that need to lose weight just give up quite easily. If the increased risk of heart disease, several types of cancers, and death aren't motivation enough, losing the $150 isn't going to be a big deal to most overweight or obese people. This company is banking on the fact that most people that start diets never stick with it. And if they do, they lose the 15 pounds they wanted to and gain it all back once they feel they've reached their goal. But, a bet on yourself is always the best kind of bet. So I applaud anyone who tries this and succeeds.

I would have to lose 50 lbs to get to a BMI of 25 from ~33. Pretty unrealistic considering I haven't weighed that little since I was 16.... I would like to get down to 190 by summer though...
