Panasonic VT50 for $1628 @ JR.com

A plasma vs LED question. I have been reading posts on forums that give LED an advantage over Plasma in brightly lit rooms. Does the same apply for even the newer models (the *T50s, not the previous years *T30s)? Can any current owners comment?

Our room has some fairly large windows which do let in a decent bit of sunlight during the day. I am not too concerned over the weight (not mounting the TV), heat (sufficient open space around the TV), thickness (the difference in size is not a deal-breaker), TV lifetimes (debatable from what I have read) and power consumption (the annual price difference is fairly small). PQ in a bright room for sports and movies is important for us and I almost went with the Paul's TV offer on the Panasonic Plasma before I read the reports on Plasma vs LED in a bright room.

Any inputs would be greatly helpful.

I agree with this guy. Plus sports is typically shot at tv frame rates of 30fps (29.97fps for you nitpickers), which translates much better into the 120/240hz upsampling (less interpolation of the inbetween frames). Some hate it regardless of source, but I personally only hate it in movies. With sports I think it looks great...

So I just bought a 55VT50 on Sunday from BB and it was delivered today. Have it up and running and looks amazing! Just set it to THX Cinema for time being. Question becomes will BB price match multiple times? Bought for 1699 with free delivery and they knocked an extra 50 the 50UT50 for me bringing that price to 649.

The Magnolia center inside my local Best Buy (The Woodlands, TX) just price-matched the $1,627.99 deal from JR. I printed the JR deal and took it in to the store. Incidentally, they already had it on sale for $1,699.

VT all the way, ultra black level, best TV of 2012 from multiple sources. This is reference for all TV.

120hz in LEDs make movie look fake IMO.

My friend is looking for a 65-70" budget LCD tv. It doesn't have to be the best tv ever, or have the best features. Any tips?
