TurboTax Deluxe Fed & State 2012 + Quicken Starter $15+tax after rebate, AC, PM at Staples (YMMV)

Staples has turbotax federal and state for $60. Staples is also offering Quicken starter edition for $40. But, you get a $40 prepaid card back. If you use a 25-off-75 coupon, you can bring the total further down. Amazon/Costco has the turbotax for $40 - so you can pricematch at Staples to get it even down.

I tried it today and ended up with a final cost of $15+tax. I know this is a lot of process... posting this in case somebody finds this useful. This is YMMV since it involves coupons.

2) Checkout and add your $25/$75 coupon.
3) After checkout, either initiate a Staples Live Chat or call
4) Ask the chat representative to match amazon/Costco's price for Turbotax They will credit your card with the $20+tax

Here is the breakdown:
$60+$40 = $100
-$25 coupon = $75 + tax
-$40 visa card = $35 + tax
-$20 PM credit = $15+tax

Staples only PM $15.45 after deducting S&h $2.99 and non member fee $2.50

I had them price match Amazon.. received 21 and some change back once they accounted for the tax on the 20.00 refund.

Online chat said no-go, as he kept insisting on deducting the $40 quicken software value from the staples price.

Try a different rep in a new session... Some reps can be hard to deal with

Same here, although my rep was deducting $20, presumably half of the refund. I asked that the order be canceled, but they couldn't do that. They have to ship, intercept the shipment, return it to the warehouse. In 5-7 days they plan to issue the credit to my charge card and allow me to reuse my $25/$75 coupon. What a PITA!

That is crazy. Try another rep. I guess it depends on who you get. Mine did it for me in 1 minute no hassle.

I can't try another rep because Staples is currently holding my $25 coupon hostage until they receive the merchandise (which has not yet shipped) back in the warehouse. It was an insane conversation. I won't actually receive anything, but will have a charge on my credit card and lose the use of the coupon for up to a week.
