My girlfriend works for MS. They will pay the $200, I'll put her on Straight Talk. Or she could stay on her old SERO account and wait for Sprint to release a new Windows phone. Probably go that route though she's getting a bit tired of my old EVO. Sprint store says they're releasing one this quarter. If she didn't have a good contract I'd go off contract for sure. Just switched to Virgin myself. And virgin mobile for my phone. Ba da boom...
The Nokia Lumia 900/920 series is the benchmark of how to make a good cellphone, too bad the 920 is still hard to find at an affordable price nowadays. Yeah the OS doesn't have as many apps as Apple or Android, but it's already at a level they were a couple of years ago, and that's perfectly adequate for most people. WP8 (and WP7 for that matter) is a beautifully made OS, it's smooth, elegant, and intuitive to use, anyone who says otherwise most likely have never touched it.
I have a 920, S3, Note 2 and IPhone 5. While not the best, the Lumia 920 and its OS are solid and competent in their own right. It doesn't let you tinker like Android but it is very stable and usable. And yes the sharp corners make it easier to slip into your pocket because it catches the edge better. My favorite is still the S3 for overall performance but the Lumia is pretty good in its own right.
I've been running an HD7 (WP7 phone) for a year or so now. I've owned iPhones since the original but decided I'd try a different mobile OS just for giggles. I picked this up for cheap off CL just to try the OS out and have been loving it.
You can bash everyone who likes Windows phones if you want but you might want to try one first.
Oh, and learn how capitalization works while you're at it.
Using a 900 right now. Really want to like it, but just too limiting in terms of hw, sw, and app selection. Feels crippled coming from having used android for a long time. The os is as restricting as ios, if not more. But the Nokia hardware does feel quite solid, even though dated.
Really? Sharp corners for something you carry in your pocket?
Your benchmarks are really low there.
Sharp corners? On the Lumia 900? Oh yes, I have the Lumia 800, the little brother of this 900. It has very very very sharp corners like the 900, sharp enough I ditched my knife forever, now I use my phone to cut my sandwich in half every morning.
Great phone, great device.
And yes it has less apps compare to IOS and Android, I agree, less junk apps.
