TurboTax Deluxe Federal + E-File + State 2012 $40 + Free Shipping

I switched from TaxAct to TT last year and was really impressed with TT.

But I'm willing to wait for a better deal. Still lots of time before April.

Exactly. I use Premier because when we moved, we decided to rent out the old house instead of trying to sell in the dismal market. Premier covers things like depreciation, which has more than helped cover the cost of Premier over Deluxe in the past few years.

I had already researched this a bit when I found this thread. It looks like you can transfer with a small workaround.

Paying $40 for turbotax is robbery. I would recommend to not go with this deal. I got mine for 95 cents. I've used H&R Block and it is exactly the same as TurboTax.

I would suggest any one of you who ordered through Amazon to return it or cancel the order and get this. For 95 cents, this is a steal. H&R Block also includes Efile free, except for state of course.

If you buy the boxed product in this deal you get the state software but have to pay $19.99 if you want to e-file it. $36.99 is the cost to do your State online and includes e-file.

My understanding is you can complete as many STATE tax returns with this as you want, you just have to print it up and mail it in as opposed to e-filing (this comes with 1 e-file).

That's correct, we do this very year. We e-file ours and mail in state taxes for the rest of our family (mother in law, etc)

I have been using the online version of turbo tax for the past few years. I use a link through fidelity that gives a discount. Usually ends up a little under $40 for fed and state. It seems awfully "2005" to have a big empty box with a disc inside mailed to me...

is it free last year?

That's correct. I used premier when I had rental properties but now that I sold them, I use deluxe. Deluxe does everything you need if you don't have rental property, I believe.

I make the same mistake every year and buy too early. It's still too early. This should get down to 30

How about if I own a house (actually bought one last year), do you guys think deluxe would be sufficient?
