If you guys want a smooth experience, considering waiting for 8-11 when companies show their products or consider getting a MK808, GK802 or ODROID U2

Not sure what proof there could be other than a review of someone ordering it from DX and confirming such, which we don't have.


I've ordered electronic gadgets from DX for 3-4 years now and products have always been what they said in the descriptions. The U1A comes in a white box [geekbuying.com] and DX's shows a blue box.


I know that's not a 100% assurance, but I ordered two myself and feel confident DX won't screw me over. I actually ordered the U1A few weeks back too for $35 and feel it's worth every penny after I put Plex on it. Out of the box...eh. I had a buddy order the MK808 off amazon for $60 and Play store didn't even work out of the box.

I have been developing and dealing with these sticks ever since the MK802 was first released;
Fast review on the standard MK802 which features the A10 chip. FIRST. Every chip that features a A10 that says its clocked at 1.5ghz are LYING. These are Soc which means everything is in the chip. the CPU is normally clocked at 998mhz and the GPU is at about 500mhz so what these companies who sell these sticks do is ADD together and advertise them as a 1.5ghz stick. the A10 is a GREAT AWESOME SUPER chip for HW decoding using MX Player and its built in player it actually has a dedicaded video decoder know as the VPU CedarX that can decode up 2160p. Which make the A10 a wonder video playback chip. BUT THAT IS IT. The company behind the chip has keep it pretty close source and and some developers were planning on brining XBMC to it but the project was forgotten because Allwinner Technology wasn't working with them on releasing important needed drivers/files. They send them emails and eventually got a response which turned out to be the SAME files their webpage has to download already. Out of the box, it handles MKV 1080p files great. DTS need that issue fixed (http://www.equisoforum.com/Thread...ICE-Player) i can play a lot of different video codec/containers/formats because the chinese don't give a shit about the licensing.

From your experience, is this device (or CPU) on Netflix's approved list? In other words, can I download Netflix from the Play Store and install it on the device without issue?

shipping of ODROID-U2 will cost you $30, and we are talking about Android stick for $20 total (free shipping)

these are devices from different classes (expensive developer board vs. cheap toy/gadget)

this is good deal not because of performance of A10@U2, its wide software support, future proof, latest/greatest quadcore CPU/GPU or wide range of ports (BT/WiFi/USB3.0/SATA)... NO... it is good deal because of it extremely low price while it is decent device for simple tasks like just playing movie

This but since Chinese are the ones making these boards they dont give a shit about codec licenses so they can just built in their players lmao however, MX and DICE I think drop support for DTS in fear of getting sued.


Really anything with a A10 will play back 1080P MKV fine. BUT That IS IT. For anything else., look for something else. But like I said, if you want a device that supports 5.1 and a lot of different types of video formats something like this

I've read that previously, he sounds like a pompous whiner.

The facts are that a number of other video players DO support hardware accelerated video on on the Allwinner SOC. That dev blames Allwinner, yet other devs have worked with them without issues? Perhaps a lot of the fault isn't with Allwinner, but the XBMC devs. This is just another area where XBMC has fallen behind.

Use a DNLA client with one of the better video players and a few utils and you'll get most of the features of XBMC. The truth is that MX Player and Mobo Player (and others) are adding features like mad, it won't be long until they're doing everything XBMC is doing. The way things are going with the XBMC devs, it may not be long until XBMC is completely left behind by the competition.

Keep in mind that XBMC does work on this chip. The problem is that the XBMC devs are too slack to implement hardware video decoding, making it worthless for HD video, but fine for low def web videos and live streams.
