Check spam folder for 5$ credit the subject would say "Regarding sku145864 you have purchased from DX.com"

Dear valuable customers,

Recently, we offered a special promotion price on one of our popular items: the mini android 4.0 Media Player – sku.145864 External link. The manufacturer made these products available at a discounted price in order to clear stock for the coming New Year.

Unfortunately, after receiving the most recent batch of media players, it came to our attention before shipment that some of these media players have a quality issue that may affect performance. At that time we also discovered that the manufacturer supplied us with a discrepancy in information regarding the processor frequency. In order to test the processors we used our Android benchmark tool from our QC team and it turned out that some of these products may have shipped with a 1 GHZ processor instead of the 1.5 GHZ that we listed under our specifications.

Having known this fact, we tried to find an alternative source but no comparable units were available. We also attempted to have another batch of media players manufactured to the proper specifications but this would have required factory re-tooling that was not feasible in a reasonable amount of time.

Although some of these units that were purchased earlier may not have a performance issue, we have no way to be sure of this. Therefore, we have two options to resolve this issue:

1. Full refund will be issued on this item for anyone who ordered the product regardless of shipment date. We will contact you directly to follow up on this and you may keep the media player.

2. If your order hasn’t been shipped yet, it will be cancelled and you will receive a full refund and a $5 USD coupon code to use toward the purchase of a related Android HD media player here

We greatly apologize for trouble this has brought to you and we are working hard with our manufacturer to solve the problem and create protocols to see that it doesn’t happen again.

How to fix Wifi on LUbantu on U2 (password is "miniand")
0) booting uHost in Android, use browser to download seahorse's evb.bin file from here Wifi on Lubuntu
1) booting lubuntu from microsd on uHost
3) rename original evb.bin file in the 17MB volume
4) copy seahorse's evb.bin file into the 17MB volume
5) edit the file /etc/modules (sudo leafpad and open file /etc/modules) or (sudo -vi /etc/modules) and add one line with 8192cu, then save.
6) Reboot and your WiFi chip should now be up and running (go to terminal and do a lsusb and it should show up there
7) Do the usual configuration in the Network manager and you'll have your WiFi up and running

I've read that previously, he sounds like a pompous whiner.

The facts are that a number of other video players DO support hardware accelerated video on on the Allwinner SOC. That dev blames Allwinner, yet other devs have worked with them without issues? Perhaps a lot of the fault isn't with Allwinner, but the XBMC devs. This is just another area where XBMC has fallen behind.

Use a DNLA client with one of the better video players and a few utils and you'll get most of the features of XBMC. The truth is that MX Player and Mobo Player (and others) are adding features like mad, it won't be long until they're doing everything XBMC is doing. The way things are going with the XBMC devs, it may not be long until XBMC is completely left behind by the competition.

Keep in mind that XBMC does work on this chip. The problem is that the XBMC devs are too slack to implement hardware video decoding, making it worthless for HD video, but fine for low def web videos and live streams.
Oh wow, you even made me LOL.

Anyway. I don't feel offended, but do feel the urge to share the following information with you.

All I want from this 20 bucks stick is to have a web browser on my TV so that I can watch ESPN3 on big screen. And occasional youtube live content and amazon prime video. My simple question, is it doable with this stick? I need no MKV or other streaming from networked computers. I have a WDTV that works for those.

Damn, I jumped on this when it was $35 about 3-4 weeks ago Frown
On a positive note, they sent me 2 by accident, but only billed me for one.

PS: I have two 720p TVs, but I can only get it to work on my newer one, as my older one doesn't want to downsample the resolution
what version you got U2, U1, U1a?

Serious question, why can Moboplayer and whatever do HD decoding without the issues XBMC is having?

Exactly.

Telling that he didn't address why Mobo Player and MX Player have hardware video acceleration for the Allwinner, yet XBMC doesn't.

good luck with that. even with the 808, you are stuck with the tiny screen. if you are lucky enough to click away the ads x corners so you can see the main video. with espn3, there is no ads, but i dont think you can maximize or click on any flash video clip on this cheapy android stick. if you can get flash to work on this stick, either it's very slow and/or you are stuck with the tiny screen. dont click anywhere on the flash clip or it will be frozen.

no amazon prime on android stick. they dont have any android app for that. youtube live content also needs flash v11 or higher which you will fall back to the same ESPN3 scenerio.

Seems to go in and out of stock (Im assuming they're adding more as it runs out, as it's extremely popular given its price point)
It shows as $20.50 USD for me with free shipping although I'm in Australia, I'm assuming you would get the same deal since DX ship globally

Appears to be similiar to http://slickdeals.net/f/5654884-Lowest-Priced-Android-4-0-PC-Stick-1Ghz-CPU-HDMI-GPU-FREE-SHIPPING-34-99?v=1
except this one has specs that state 1.5ghz instead of 1.0

From DX Page:
OS Android 4.0
Chipset Allwinner A10 / Cortex A8
Processor Frequency 1.5GHZ
RAM DDR III 1GB
Internal Memory 4GB

Sounds about time

A10 has a hard time hitting 1.5ghz

998 is the exact clock speed

That appears to be some sort of "air mouse". I found similar looking things on ebay, but not that exact one you asked about. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Wirel...2c6a193aad)

Here's one that closes tomorrow for price reference: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-2-4G...257962588b

I believe these all do the same thing. Anyone know more about about these things? Will any air mouse work on the U2 here?

Regarding my first post about XBMC above, my intent was not to offend or troll you. I didn't even realize you read this board. So I will apologize for saying you "seemed a pompous whiner". Still, I will say that after having read that particular post, that was my honest impression. To me, it gave the impression that you seemed more interested in receiving apologies than getting the hardware working.

In doing a bit more research, it seems the answer you're waiting to reveal is that there is some very beta hardware support. Can you enlighten us why it's taken XBMC months longer than Rockplayer, Mobo Player, MX Player and others?

I'm not being snarky, I'm honestly curious.
