Check spam folder for 5$ credit the subject would say "Regarding sku145864 you have purchased from DX.com"

Quote :
Dear valuable customers,

Recently, we offered a special promotion price on one of our popular items: the mini android 4.0 Media Player – sku.145864 External link. The manufacturer made these products available at a discounted price in order to clear stock for the coming New Year.

Unfortunately, after receiving the most recent batch of media players, it came to our attention before shipment that some of these media players have a quality issue that may affect performance. At that time we also discovered that the manufacturer supplied us with a discrepancy in information regarding the processor frequency. In order to test the processors we used our Android benchmark tool from our QC team and it turned out that some of these products may have shipped with a 1 GHZ processor instead of the 1.5 GHZ that we listed under our specifications.

Having known this fact, we tried to find an alternative source but no comparable units were available. We also attempted to have another batch of media players manufactured to the proper specifications but this would have required factory re-tooling that was not feasible in a reasonable amount of time.

Although some of these units that were purchased earlier may not have a performance issue, we have no way to be sure of this. Therefore, we have two options to resolve this issue:

1. Full refund will be issued on this item for anyone who ordered the product regardless of shipment date. We will contact you directly to follow up on this and you may keep the media player.

2. If your order hasn't been shipped yet, it will be cancelled and you will receive a full refund and a $5 USD coupon code to use toward the purchase of a related Android HD media player here

We greatly apologize for trouble this has brought to you and we are working hard with our manufacturer to solve the problem and create protocols to see that it doesn't happen again.

How to fix Wifi on LUbantu on U2 (password is "miniand")
0) booting uHost in Android, use browser to download seahorse's evb.bin file from here Wifi on Lubuntu
1) booting lubuntu from microsd on uHost
3) rename original evb.bin file in the 17MB volume
4) copy seahorse's evb.bin file into the 17MB volume
5) edit the file /etc/modules (sudo leafpad and open file /etc/modules) or (sudo -vi /etc/modules) and add one line with 8192cu, then save.
6) Reboot and your WiFi chip should now be up and running (go to terminal and do a lsusb and it should show up there
7) Do the usual configuration in the Network manager and you'll have your WiFi up and running

download eve.bin file from http://tabletrepublic.com/forum/u...108-5.html (if u have 1080p image)

All of the cheaper ones seem to be of questionable quality/reliability, according to Amazon. If you only need it for playing media, I say get one of these [amazon.com]. Otherwise, I don't really know what to tell you. I was going to buy a different one of these Android sticks on Amazon, but after getting scared off by all of the reviews on these things, I decided to get this [amazon.com]because it supports 5.1 pass-through and I can use it with my surround system (unlike every other Android stick and the aforementioned cheaper media player).

Yeah, if you don't need 5.1, definitely just go with the first player [amazon.com]. If you don't even need 1080p, and would instead be satisfied with 720p, you could just get this [amazon.com].

heart Believe me, I was not offended. Everybody is entited to his own oppinion and that is good. Smilie If you think I am a whiner, that's fine yummy

What really stroke me is the fact that people (I grabbed you this time, but there are a lot more out there) jump to conclusions and make hard statements about thing they don't have all the information of.

That particular thread you linked to is about, Allwinner trying to push us in the forest with something, that what they gave us were the exact same files. No probrem, must be an error, but when asked about it they start to lie and lie and ....

Call me a whiner, that's fine, but I DO HATE liers!

Anyway; when the dust settled they apologised. If you read the story further on my blog wou will read that eventually they sent some other files.

At this moment their latest linux hardware drivers are borked. We gave them all the info they need to solve it, but they can't or they don't want to solve it.

Thousands of people have reproduced the errors. At this moment there are two XBMC ports available, VLC is available, and all sources are available to them to reproduce the bad decoding.

You can read all about it here;

Now to answer your question about why MXplayer can do it, but XBMC can't;

XBMC is opensource and released under GPL. XBMC is free. Free as in no costs and free as in all sources are open. You are free to take them, use them, modify them, do whatever you want, just honer the GPL license.

You can contact suppliers asking for their video decoing code. To get it you always need to legally bind yourself and sign NDA's (Non Disclosure Agreement). Tht code used is not open, meaning that XBMC have to close the sources.

XBMC dev's will never do that!

Usually NDA's are combined with large sum's of money as well, hence the reason most good player are not completely free. But that is the easiest part.

Secondly; XBMC is pure C/C++ code, most of Android is JAVA. XBMC actually contains just one line of JAVA code telling Android to startup that C program.

Players that are coded in JAVA can hook into Android's libraries. Most NDA released libraries and code also hook into or extend those API's. All with all completely useless for XBMC.

XBMC because of it being a native C/C++ program has to hook directly into the hardware, can not make use of any API/Framework.
Points noted but Linux and the GPL deal with closed source all the time and are still free. From the Nvidia drivers to the Raspberry PIs GPU core. Both can get along without closing up source code.

I bought this one a few weeks ago and it won't stay connected to WIFI. In an endless cycle of cennected, connecting and plain won't work.

Linux and XMBC work fine. God forbid people have to compile it themselves and download a toolchain. It's so expensive at 20$... said no-one ever.

"This guy sold me a house without a roof for 2 grand last Friday. Horrible mistake. It doesn't even protect you from the rain!"

If you spend an equal amount of money per year buying more of less, that is your own fault, and not very Slick. If you bothered to look at the factory tour of the first MK802 devices on YouTube, they even anounce it as CPU/GPU = APU (Thank you AMD).
