I've had these (fewer shelves) but the same design and type. Basically think of it as thick tin foil. It's extremely light, easy to move around, and once you spend a LONG time putting it together, you'll think it wouldn't hold more than a paperclip before it crumbles but it does hold some weight to it.

About the comment earlier about it bending, well, it bends, even without being whacked.

However, it also isn't stronger than these shelves. I bought the shelves in this deal and replaced that " steel " one.
