I'll try to keep it simple for you. If this is a one time issue, use your Kohls cash on items you don't plan on returning.
If you continuously have to do multiple returns for multiple different orders, you have an issue. You may either try taking your meds beforehand or shopping at a different store until those meds kick in.

It isn't a scam. People misuse this Kohl's cash offer by returning $50 item and keep the $10 kohl's cash. That is an actual Scam :-) not that of Kohl's.

Even worst part of the Kohls Cash is, they apply kohls cash to the order before discount.

Means you pay full price for the part of the order which you used kohls cash. Everyone knows kohls has overpriced product without discount.

Yes, that's my grudge with Kohl's cash as well. Say, I place $100 worth of stuff in my cart and use a 30% coupon. I owe $70. But if I use $10 Kohl's cash, I owe $63 additionally. As you pointed out, that makes my $10 Kohls cash actually worth only $7!!!!

I think a lot of people are confused on OP's math. I've been trying to call Kohl's CS but all their reps are clueless people.

I'm really pissed off at Kohl's because I returned $75 dollars worth jeans that didn't fit me (I received $30 in KC because my order was $200 total). Ideally, they should refund me $75 + tax but they refunded me $75 - $20 KC = $55 and then the tax. I have no problem return the KC to them but they should refund me the tax on the $75 merchandise. They ripped me off and non of the CS reps understood.

Who ever made their computer system to refund this way is an idiot. Should be fired immediately.

I agree - it is ridiculous now. I hate that they apply the discounts after kohls cash now. I shop there less now just for that reason.

My husband tried to return some pants he bought with kohls cash the other night - the girl wasn't even going to give him store credit - she was just going to take the pants back abd give him nothing! I had to call her manager ! Sometimes I wonder where they find these people!

I bought $160 (order A) and returned $75 worth of jeans (I paid $75 in taxes for those jeans).

I think some people have a problem understanding that if you return an item you EARNED the crappy Kohl's cash on they will dock your return that amount. This is especially a pain if you are buying someone a gift that was an item that you EARNED crappy Kohl's cash on and they have to return it for whatever reason. What a surprise to have their refund docked because Kohl's cash is attached to it.

It should be that they dock the item you BOUGHT with the Kohl's cash.

Why are people defending Kohl's over this rip off practice? Kohl's cash needs to die. I don't even use it anymore. Deals aren't as sweet at Kohl's now either.

I did a lot of shopping at JCPenney for the holidays. Their button code program rocked.

I'd suggest taking this matter either to your State Attorney General for legal action or the Better Business Bureau as a consumer complaint. Kohl's is clearly getting away with charging excessive tax on the deal.
