Beware The Kohl's Cash Scam - Thumbs Down Against Kohls Cash!

Are you sure you paid on the $75 the tax and not only on $75 - $20 KC.

I just checked a receipt where I used KC from the promotion before x-mas. The only charged sales tax on the amount after KC. Would mean in case I return it, they would refund sales tax on the amount I paid after KC, which is correct.

Did this just change recently? Question. I bought $120 worth of stuff from them and I had $50 worth of KC. The other $70 was on a Kohls Store Credit card that I used. If I return everything will I get $120 in Kohls Store Credit or just the $70?

I'm legitimately asking because I ordered a bunch of dishes and they were a very brown color on-line and when they showed up they're this burn red color. Not happy!

In the past I would have gotten $120 worth of Store Credit in the above scenario, just curios what it would be now.

The receipt is saying "... The value of the KC coupon will be returned as a Kohl's merchandise credit."

Kohls cash makes shopping more stressful. It should die

But ya, I can see how people can make a scam out of it. I heard of a guy out here who was buying $1,000s worth of stuff and then selling his KC on-line. He'd then return the product, get store credit and do it all over again. I guess Kohls caught on and invalidated his KC and maybe his merch credit. Don't know all the specifics. I'm fine with them doing that. That guy was clearly doing some morally shady crap.

I see you're not getting it.

Let's try this over again.

Did order A which came out to $160 and then received $30 KC total. I paid with my Kohl's charge on order A, did not use any KC on this order.

Then, go see my previous post on the math.

Ideally, they should refund me $75 + tax and then deduct the $20 KC (used on order B) from my return. They should not refund ONLY $55 worth of merchandise because I clearly paid taxes on $75 on jeans.

Not sure how to do the legal action and wouldn't it be time consuming? I bet a lot of people are getting ripped off by this especially those who don't check their receipts and trust Kohl's pathetic system.

Oh, also forgot to mention that my order B should be revised. They should revise it to that only $10 KC has been used due to refund on order A. I doubt they will adjust that. I'm afraid of getting $30 worth of store credit if I decide to return Order B. Also, the 20% discount should be after $10 KC and not $30 KC. Sorry if this is confusing.

You will only get $70 back into your Kohls charge. I just made a return last week and they ripped me off.

According to Kohl's new policy, your scenario will only get you (assuming your tax rate is 8.75%) $120 - $50 KC= $70 + $6.13tax = $76.13 <~~ This is what Kohl's will credit you but the above is the amount you're suppose to receive:

$120 + $10.5 tax = $130.50 - $50 KC = $80.50

Does everyone see a difference?

As I said, I did exactly the same and I only paid tax on the amount after KC. So no issue if I would return the item.

Just return without receipt and take store credit. And keep your kohls cash

This is why Kohl's is able to scam so many people. Just got off the phone with CS and he said there's nothing he can do and to go talk to the store manager lol. He's basically telling me, oh well, your lost.

That's what I was saying.

I got $30 kc when I bought a kitchenaid. (A)

Some days later I went back and bought something else for $40.49 - $30 KC (from A) = $10.49. 10.49 + 8.375% tax ($0.88) = $11.37.

This isn't exactly a win-win. Without a receipt, if the item has been marked down since you bought it you will get that price on store credit instead of what you actually paid.

So the basic lesson (as before) is to watch your returns and treat this more like Amazon promo credits (compared to say, gift card values).

As others have pointed out...the scam's/fraud did seem to be wide spread in the past. Even though none of us might have done that...we all pay in the long run. The money has to come from somewhere to cover it...and I'm willing to bet it's not from their board members bonus checks.

How many items should one human physically return in a single year that they bought in person, one maybe two? Cmon folks.... youre wasting more time and gas money driving back in forth to kohls to try to scam them....
