Beware The Kohl's Cash Scam - Thumbs Down Against Kohls Cash!

Then Kohls is in bad shape! just joking or am I? Seriously you don't complain to CSR's you complain to the proper state authorities. I know this works as it has been done in my state with positive results, by a friend not to long ago when she had a store issue. Not Kohls by the way.

Agreed! If I ever have a return that I received and/or used Kohls cash on I just get store credit and then they dont take any $ away.

Long story short....If you return your item and the KC than they should return your money and every cent of it.
From what i am reading i am getting the idea that they are forcing consumers to hold on to KC and lock them into buying something with KC in their store.....This is wrong period.

You've thrown out a lot of numbers and you've gone to a good deal of effort but I think you're confused. Firstly, I think it's reasonable for you to ask Kohl's to provide an analysis from their accountants that confirms they've reviewed relevant state tax laws and are applying the correct tax treatment in situations involving the return of Kohl's cash. As far as the confusion that I see in your posts -- first you were complaining that they assessed you taxes on the Kohl's cash amount and now you're saying that while maybe you do owe some taxes on the later purchase they should redo that whole transaction in order to apply the 20% discount on the higher amount (net of the unretrieved Kohl's cash). In your example, when you made your return, they retrieved the $20 in Kohl's cash used plus $1.75 in taxes that they now believe are owed from that second transaction. In effect, what you wanted them to do was to retrieve from you $16 worth of Kohl's cash instead of $20 (giving you the benefit of the 20% discount that you would have received had you not used Kohl's cash) and saving you $0.35 in taxes (so that you would owe $1.40 on $16 instead of $1.75 on $20). The total difference between the way they calculated and the way you want them to calculate is $4.35. If they are unwilling to do this, you can return the merchandise and then re-buy it with the 20% discount. If you return the second purchase, the taxes they collected from you on the retrieved $20 Kohl's cash when you made your initial return should be refunded in cash or store credit along with Kohl's cash.

Don't care about the 20% because refunding me partial tax is incorrect. Taking $1.75 out from order A to cover for order B (as per your argument) doesn't make sense. They could've easily re-adjusted order B but it should already be enough.

I'm exhausted from explaining. Please do not reply any further. Btw, returning at my order will not resolve it. It'll only make the matter worst. I already know if I return everything, my account will not have a $0 balance, yet I still owe them money. Obviously, Kohl's has a big issue on their system. I understand you're trying to help, so I gotta say thank you.

If you order online and your order is shipped in separate shipments, each shipment is treated as an individual order. When I ordered over $60 worth of merchandise, all four items were shipped individually; therefore, when I had to return them, the system took off $10 from each "order" which meant losing $40. I didn't use any kc on the initial order, only earned $10 kc on it which I subsequently spent and then needed to return the item. I complained that there was no way I had earned $40 in kc on my order of $62, but they were only going to give me $22 back to my credit card saying there was no way to override the system. I complained to the store manager and she gave me $72 back in store credit. It was not the best result, but certainly better than losing $40.

Oh gee, you never buy items for other people? I shop for my mother and my grandmother at times. I buy people gifts. Guess what? Sometimes they don't fit when they try them on.

I will acknowledge that some people have scammed Kohls in regards to the Kohls cash and they changed the way it works now because of these scammers. But don't think these scammers are unique to Kohl's. These types do it all over.
My point is that Kohls is now scamming us. Kohl's cash is not the incentive they make it out to be. It's not worth using and running the risk that something won't fit and you have to return it.

Remember Kohl's "hassle free" returns? I'm tired of the Kohl's cash hassle. I felt like I was the one getting ripped off, and so I'm done with it.

When was the last time you returned an item you EARNED kohl's cash on? There is no way you got full store credit unless you didn't produce a receipt and the item hadn't been marked down OR you never spent the Kohl's cash.

God people whine too much. Not a scam, they changed their policy due to people abusing it. Maybe people should be more careful about what they buy so they don't return as much. Don't like it? Move on and shop elsewhere. Simple.

I plan to. After this incident, I will drastically limit my shopping at Kohl's.

This post is to inform others of my experience and educate others about the ripoff structure on which Kohl's Cash is built upon.
