I do the exact same thing, Dollar Tree also has small spray bottles that I put the alcohol in and spray on to the microfiber cloth and then keep the cloth in a ziplock when not using. Works really well for wiping down an entire laptop as well, not just the screen.

I have been cleaning my macbook pro (from screen to body) with rubbing alcohol for 3 years, and haven't noticed any changes. I'm going to start using dishwashing liquid though after reading your comment.

I will pass as it's not worth it to go through the rebate process for a microfiber cloth that you can get in dollar stores for one buck. thanks anyway!

I use the LCD cleaning liquid/cloth from monoprice.com. It has served me very well for cell phones and LCDs.

I heard that rubbing alcohol can contain oils (such as wintergreen), perfumes and coloring agents which can leave streaks and smears on plastics and LCD screens.

I make my own homemade electronic cleaning solution with 50% 91% Isopropyl Alcohol and 50% distilled water. It works great when using a micro fiber cloth.

If you don't want to make your own general purpose LCD and electronic cleaner NOVUS PC-108 Plastic Clean & Shine [amazon.com] is pretty good as well.

I didn’t like the product at first but overtime I realized that it leaves no streaks; is gentle on plastics and makes LCDs really shine. You will get best results with repeated applications over time in my experience. It's $19 now but usually sells at $14 with free shipping for a 64 ounce bottle which should last you for years.

About the deal; I don't think it's worth the hassle to have my $10 tied up for months in rebate games so I opt out. It's nice if you have the patience though...
