Got 1 case and 1 ream. Needed to roll $52'ish rewards over. Thanks for posting this.

Just one note, I had the "shipping" radio-button selected in the upper-right corner of the site and should have double-checked while in checkout to confirm, but they sent me an email telling me my order was ready for pick-up. Luckily for me, it's my local one that's about 10 minutes away. Just be sure to double check that stuff while in check-out.

Are you looking at the correct item?

"21403152 OX9001-CTN 5,000 sheets (10 rm CASE) 8 1/2" x 11" (Letter Size) 92 $43.99 1 to 3 days"

If so, note that net $0.01 after rewards items should have their rewards payouts adjusted to the net purchase price whether that amount is less than or greater than the advertised price.

If you use a competitor $25 off $75, but have $75 worth of products, do they adjust the coupon off each item thereby reducing you rebate?
From the unofficial FAQ in the WIKI:

05. Does using coupons impact the rewards payout?

It depends on the type of bonus rewards offer:

---- if it's a percentage back bonus rewards offer, then using a coupon will reduce the rewards payout to the extent the coupon is applied to the item at the offers percentage rate (ie. coupon amount applied to item multiplied by the percentage rate of the offer). Dollar off coupons are still useful in reducing the initial outlay, the eventual rewards payout, and the amount of sales tax paid if applicable.
---- if it's a net $0.01 after bonus rewards offer, then using a coupon will reduce the rewards payout to the extent the coupon is applied to the item. Dollar off coupons are still useful in reducing the initial outlay, the eventual rewards payout, and the amount of sales tax paid if applicable.
---- if it's a fixed value (buy X get $Y in rewards) bonus rewards offer, then using a coupon has not impacted the rewards payout regardless of the change in wording in the Bonus Rewards issued sentence from "percentage-based Bonus Reward" offers to "Bonus Rewards" offers.

For both in-store purchases and online orders (and presumably phone orders), coupons are pro-rated to all items in the purchase/order.

Note: Some MaxPerks customer service representatives are under the erroneous impression that coupons reduce rewards payout regardless of what type of rewards offer. This can be a problem if the system does not automatically award the rewards.

Or just get it in the thread:

"OfficeMax in-store coupon: $5 off when you spend $25 or more on supplies, furniture, ink and toner (exclusions apply) 01/06-12" LINK

I'll probably still use the 5 of $25. Rather have less money tied up in rewards.

Trust me, when you have a valid receipt you are covered. You paid it, and can prove it. This is in no way screwing over the IRS. It is a new item. Value is not subjective.

With your logic, the Super Couponers can get no tax write off if they paid nothing after coupons for donations. They would still get fair market value even without a retail receipt for their donated write offs.

Fair market value on a case of paper is around what they are charging up front. Now SD market value is a different story. Big Grin
Trust me, when the IRS finds out that the item was much less after rebate/rewards that you'll be wishing you didnt listen to that "sea lawyer" on SD.

I have a total of 10 case now that i have no idea how to get ride of it. Taking up too much space in my basement. I tried CL but in my area no one seems interested. Maybe everyone around me is SDers
How much are you asking for them??? When I've offered them in the past, I usually sell them quickly for around $20 a case. (quickly = under a week) Actually I list them for $25 each, and a discounted $20 each if they buy 5 or more cases, but sell them all at $20/case.

There is only so much paper one needs and rolling rewards to buy paper using up tax every time I do is not exactly slick. Paper deals come around all the time.

I have no rewards that exp until March, PTL.

At least we'll know if rewards still roll this year when someone reports back. Here's hoping OM didn't change the ability to roll when the calendar ticked over to 2013.
Well, they do come around every so often, but still definitely worthwhile if you sell some of your cases instead of just stockpiling them.

Also, any reason at all to think OM might be changing how rewards roll with the new year, or just pessimistic thinking on your part?

I just signed up for a MaxPerks account and have a few questions.

1) If I get the perks back before the end of the week, can I then roll them over to get the 2nd case? I only purchased 1 case because I don't really want to pay out $80+ at once.

2) When I do use the MaxPerks bonus rewards, do I have to use them all at once or can I spend $5 here and $10 there?

3) I plan on using this initial $43 only. Meaning, I will only be buying things on OfficeMax that are free after bonus perks or cost a penny or something. If I can use various amounts - see question 2 - does the OLD money get used before the new money? Meaning, I have $50 in rewards. I buy something that's $30 with $30 back in rewards money. I have $20 in old money and $30 in new money. Will they use the $20 in old money before they use the $30 in new money?

Thanks for your help!

1. Points you will earn from purchases in lets say January, will appear in your account early the next month. This deal will not likely appear again in the very near future.

2. you can spend it a little at a time.

3. not sure, you should read the wiki on the front page of this thread.
