While I don't take insulin, they do have a version of this meter that wireless transmits insulin dosages levels to you.

Check this out: http://www.bayercontour.com/Blood...-Next-Link
This is the meter I have. Just to be clear, it doesn't send the insulin dose, just the reading so your pump can then calculate the dose.

Ohh snap!! That's my pump right on the page you posted (Hmm, I don't think I have the Revel pump, but I might be able to upgrade). Some good stuff.
I use this one, look at the size of it compared to the Bayer one!

Hated that meter. It took a ton of blood compared to the Next and the Next lets you add blood for 30 seconds if you don't get enough on the strip initially, that meter just started the test right away then gave an error message. And yes, much bigger. The Next is a bit wider than the plain old Contour USB.

No need to mark it as dead. It wasn't really a new deal to begin with. All meter companies will give you a free meter. It's the strips they make money on. It's been this way for years. Look through the massive SD archive and you'll see all the previous threads about it. So it's not like it's dead never to return. It's just sleeping and it'll be back. Just remember to check back later. It's been available for years.

My point exactly!

When I was diagnosed awhile back, I quickly learned that its not the meters that cost a lot, its those damn testing strips. Most of these strips now of days have more advanced technology in them, you gotta wonder if they were retro-fitted from a UFO crash!!! They have microchips/sensors in them that are faster a basic calculator.....

Bottom line here folks, drug companies are virtually bending over backwards to sell you a meter at significantly reduced price via rebates/discounts, etc. or simply GIVE them away with a sample strip pack (such as this promotion) in hopes that you will get hooked on their product and buy THEIR strips. Its commonly known in the diabetic community that its the strips that cost the most money and NOT the meters themselves. Medical companies take a small loss on the meter, knowing that they will DEFINITELY make it up in spades once you start buying their strips.

I know some folks have suggested that this post be deleted or removed. I too questioned my reasoning for putting this post up in the first place and it WAS NOT for the rep points. It was ONLY to help folks out who needed a new meter. I balanced out the fact that I was posting to Slickdeals and the thought of having some folks here take advantage of this greatly needed product was still not enough for me to consider removing it from this forum.

If a moderator really feels that this an inappropriate posting, by all means take it off. I personally made a decision to post this information in hopes of helping as many people out. Bottom line here, If you need it or know someone who does need one, great! If you are ordering one with the intent on selling it elsewhere, shame on you!

All I have to say, is Karma is a freakin' B@#ch for those that don't do things for the right reasons!

Take Care,
heart

I don't need one, but I'm not gonna sell it either. I want to use it after I hit the buffet hard. It's a great motivational tool to prevent one from getting diabetes. Anyway, it seems like the site is locking up forever.

I needed one, so I purchased this exact monitor for my grandmother, who doesn't know how to use the computer. It's a sad day when these companies try to market their product to people who need them, rely on them, actually plan their day around the results, and people are flooding the site to collect the 25 strips or resell on CL or Ebay. I wish I could say it surprises me, but as someone who tried to order a free device from bayer for over two hours today and continue to get the "try again later" error, I can say it was worth it for me to spend 13 bucks on Amazon and just hope a few of the people who are trying to order one and need it for daily living (like my grandmother), well, I hope they get one.

Some people talk a big game because of the anonymity of the internet, but if you're reading this and you've flooded the Bayer site without a need for one of these devices, I'll punch you in the stomach if I ever find out. You should feel ashamed and you shouldn't brag, because someone like me may overhear and ruin your farking day.

Anyone who would take advantage of this offer to resell, is truly the scum of the earth. (Don't need a lecture on "capitalism" BTW.)

thank you op, ordered mine, don't test myself nearly enough
My blood sugar gets low at random points of the day, I just make sure to eat a twix bar or something... but like you, I test myself when I feel like I forgot something....

Didn't test myself today either D:
